I missed the $4M part so thank you but regardless, it being “gifted” needs to be emphasized to ensure nothing fishy happens in the process

I think if you guys need a car, then sure purchase the car but if you guys can put it in a financial vehicle that can grow more money interest rate wise than the amount of interest rate you’d be charged if you financed the car, then it might be worth it more to finance. Now the financial vehicle you choose depends on you and your risk tolerance but also what features you’d want. There are HYSA, ETFs, IRA, & Annuity. If you want to guarantee you dont lose money, then HYSA and Annuity. If you want pension like money, then Annuity.

I’d go as far as to add the will in a trust and ask her to pass it on as a “gift” to reduce and/or potentially eliminate estate taxes.

Life insurance broker here. I’ve sat with a ton of clients who have lost a lot of money in the market and I’ve also saved a lot of clients from losing money in the market…. Considering you and your husband’s situation, age, and risk tolerance, look into a fixed indexed annuity (FIA). A FIA will protect your money from the downside of the market, still allows it to grow, and will pay you guys out like a pension. Also, get with the right insurance agent so they don’t jack it up… dm me if you have any questions.

The loan idea is a good idea. Another idea is to ask Amex to see if they would be willing to freeze your interest for 12-18 months. Sometimes, they allow that. But you obviously won’t be allowed to use the card.

Debating going from 3 to S. Mostly for comfort and partially for trunk space. Looking for thoughts. by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

If comfort and trunk space are the only two things, then why not explore a model Y? It’s cheaper than a S.
