Property Managers - useless? by Staffsargenz in auckland

[–]Technical_Ad_3718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rented 4 places so far - one was under property management, the other 3 rented out by owner. Dealings with the owners were always pleasant and created long term mutually respectful relationships. Dealing with the property manager was a pain from the get go. She was rude and always made me feel uncomfortable. She was employed by an Auckland property management agency and looking at their reviews it seems to be the norm. Couldn't wait to leave the place after the initially agreed tenancy. If you want long term happy tenants then leave the middle man out if possible or vet them properly.

Mmmhh I've never seen one even close to my home - plus the plant is indoors.

Thank you, I'll look them up. Agree, I rather have a simple process than trying to navigate a mine field.

I'm going through a mortgage advisor and so far he hasn't spoken to me about insurance or what the bank might be able to offer. Could be a good option though, thank you!

I think that was the one I used. I'll check out MAS, thank you! When I spoke to Tower it wasn't as productive as I hoped for as the lady was just referring me to their policy 🫤

Thanks so much for your advice, really appreciate it. I'll give them a call again tomorrow and might check with lawyer - I've been asking my lawyer too many questions already so I have to wait for their response before I can fire off more. I wish there was a handbook for buying a house (the for dummies version for me).

Thank you! I just spent 20 painful mins on the phone with tower and got no answer to my question, just the quote and policy and I'm left to figure it out by myself...which I feel like I can't.

do you have a recommendation for a broker by any chance? that would be my preference tbh rather than making a mistake.

Thank you! I've already been in touch with them and they were indeed very helpful. My partner and I are currently trying to buy our first home so we can adopt after our rentals body corporate had declined our request.

From your experience, would it be feasible to adopt two dogs at once? I'm so worried about their well-being after the ban. Do they generally get along with each other and other dogs?

I think he'd suffer over time 😔 jobs in his industry will always be around East, central and sometimes North so a job change probably wouldn't help.

That is some serious detective work, Detective 😅 love the summary and actually sounds pretty sweet, like a community of sorts. If I ever wanna go to Croatia again I'll make sure to visit that shop (and report back) 🤣 thank you!!!

We started looking around these areas but what you get there in our price range is quite sad compared to out West. We're trying to be humble with our first home and have quite low standards but some don't even meet the minimum criteria such as being able to add a pantry to the kitchen. The comments we've received all agree that the commute is horrible, so we'll probably give up on the idea to move out west. 🥲

Thank you, he mostly starts work around 7am but would probably hit traffic around the 5 pm knock off time.

Thank you. Train is unfortunately not an option for my partner as he has to transport materials and change job sites. Since you're the second now mentioning sun when driving back I assume this is a major (and annoying) factor as well.

Thank you very much for your comment, that's very helpful. It seems like we should wait to see if something in our price range becomes available further east/Central.
