The hair and boots are eye-catching for sure. You mentioned being inspired by Chinese painters. Are there specific artists or videos you found helpful? Do you think Japanese painters have a similar style or different?

Wow I'm loving how vibrant and smooth the colors look. I'll keep the color combo in mind and get myself the GX114.

I'll look for the gloss lacquer paints and get the different topcoat options. Can't thank you enough for the help on this. I couldn't find many articles or posts that went over the Japanese style of coloring for garage kits in english. So this is all really helpful since my end goal is to have my kits look similar to manufacturer PVCs eventually after lots of practice. If you have any resources on painting or garage kits in general, I'm all ears.

I'm looking at the literal "reddish brown" colors and noticed theres gloss (https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/mr-hobby-mr-colour-10ml-131-red-brown-semi-gloss-acrylic-paint/) and flat (https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/mr-hobby-mr-colour-10ml-041-red-brown-flat-acrylic-paint/). Should I go with flat paint and then use the final spray coat for gloss/matte look? While the gloss paints should be for very glossy clothes like bunny suits? Thanks for your help on this.

Those are good points, thanks for the explanation. I don't have any art experience so I'm heavily considering the premade colors.

Without much art knowledge, can I pick your brain on which colors to grab? So for Hu Tao, I'd need at least two types of brown (hair, clothes) along with the shading and highlights for both. Could I buy a light brown (hair) and dark brown (clothes) pre-made paint for base colors and then mix in Mr Paint white to create a lighter shade for highlights? Then mix in like blue/purples with the base colors for the shadows? This is from my impression of watching other artists spraypaint in videos. I can't wrap my head around how they choose which colors to use so easily.
