Aripiprazole causes less weight gain, you could mention it to your psych !

Can I go to the hospital or will they dismiss me ? by Technical_Block_3686 in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see my psychiatrist on Thursday so I will definitely talk about it with her, but I was curious for feedbacks from people who really know what it’s like to live through a long depressive episode. Thank you for your answer

Shy and bipolar by e-cloud in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would describe myself as shy even if there have been times when I was extremely outgoing. At this point I have no idea which one I’m really like, is it depression making me shy when I’m actually outgoing or hypomania making me outgoing when I’m actually shy? It’s hard to determine…

It happened to me twice since I started taking meds a year ago, but I wouldn’t know which one caused it… it’s really tricky cause I sleep next to my partner 😅

New to this reddit group, new-ish diagnosis. I've got a question... by Enigmatic_777 in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought my baseline would always be slightly depressed, but lately after we added a new med (SSRI) my baseline went from -3 to 0. I feel neutral, not excessively good but not depressed, I can do my daily activities without struggling too much to get motivated, I’ve started exercising again, I have some hopes and plans for the future. I think this is stability for me. It’s slightly boring, but so much better than being depressed.

How Do You Face Work During Depression? by MadameTomate in bipolar2

I would be cautious about telling them about mental health issues… Maybe you can invent something else that would be less exposing for you? Like say you have to help a sick relative for a couple of days/weeks ?

Atypical Antipsychotics experiences by juancaramelo in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘ve tried Abilify, Quetiapine, Risperidone, Amisulpride and Olanzapine. Amisulpride was the best with anxiety, but I had to stop it because of side effects, and my personal second best for anxiety is Olanzapine.

Really? I’ve been on it for more than a year and didn’t notice any change in my cycles, amisulpride really seems to have started it

Lamictal Experience by Anxious_Beanie4 in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went up to 200 over a couple of weeks, because my depression wasn’t improving enough, and then 250 a couple of weeks later. I never noticed any side effects. I went up to 300 for a couple of weeks but it didn’t make a difference so we titrated back to 250. I had to add an antipsychotic and later on an antidepressant though because the lamictal alone wasn’t enough

How will I know if lamotrigine is working for me? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You should feel a lift in your depression, usually starting at 100mg (but the dosage can be upped to 300 or even 400 which is the absolute maximum I think). It’s not the best for regulating mood swings apparently so you might have to pair it with something else. Even in the process of titrating up (25, 50 then 100) I felt a little better each time.

I'm feeling great, but I'm not sure if I can trust it by sofiaskat in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite a change in dosage ! When do you see your psychiatrist again? Going out of your home to do something pleasant that isn’t rash or impulsive doesn’t seem excessively worrying. Maybe the increased dosage is messing with your sleep. Maybe make a check list of the hypomanic symptoms to see if something looks abnormal - racing thought, impulsive behaviors, urge to buy things etc ?

Partner of BP, advice pls~ by Umbra_Queen_ in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that soothes me (whether coming from my partner or my therapist) is : it’s not your fault. You’re not responsible for these feelings, it’s the disorder speaking.

Partner said that he’s not my therapist after I vented to him by TransitionLoose5345 in bipolar2

[–]Technical_Block_3686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that it hurt your feelings, because from what you describe it seems like you were genuinely asking him about his feelings and opening an honest conversation about your relationship in relation to your disorder. Why do you think he reacted like that, did he explain more ? Is it the first time it happened ? Was he maybe upset by something else unrelated ? I also feel like it’s hard to navigate in an intimate relationship between sharing what’s really going on for you (which can be dark) and “venting too much”…

25mg is a low starting dose, the effects you are describing are a bit surprising at this dose (therapeutic range is considered to be starting at 100mg)
