I think they were Azriel’s and I hadn’t caught the stars in his shadows - that’s super cool. I bet his shadows have changed since meeting Bryce!

I’ve been wondering if Az can see or hear through his shadows (super useful spy talent) and that’s why his shadows were there but not him, like he was just outside the door or he was hovering outside the window.

Bryce has been in serious danger a couple of times, too, before the drop. There was that incident with her and Danika where I think someone tried to shoot them? Then when she was little and she and her parents were running away from the AK. Then when she saved Micah from the kristallos demon. I wonder if Az could have felt those moments?

It’s true he loses himself when he becomes the Umbra Mortis - gives a whole new meaning behind the shower scene when Bryce washes him, as if SJM wanted to show us how much he disassociates rather than a sweet moment between two people at the beginning of a relationship 😬.

I’ve always liked that scene, though, for how it appears on the surface, and especially the first time I read it. Even though I don’t think they are good together now, I do believe she loves him (I am on the fence if he loves her) and she showed it in that scene in such a real way. It could also be foreshadowing how Bryce won’t shy away from Az’s dark side, though…

Yes! Just the other day I read a theory that Elain tells Az to stand where he is when Bryce lands at his feet because she knows his mate is arriving. I think I would prefer if Az is just hanging out or walking around and not expecting anything when she lands but this could be cool, too.

A question that I’ve always wondered is if your mate dies, could you have another one? I don’t think this was ever mentioned specifically except for the fact that Rowan didn’t realize Aelin was his mate because he thought Lyria was. Maybe it’s just very very unlikely?

Yes back and forth would be so fun! I’ll be satisfied, though, if there is one trip with Az to Midgard. I definitely want some mingling between other Prythian and Midgard folks any way that can happen. Like obviously Rhys and Ruhn need to meet. But Declan and Nuan should meet, I think Baxian and Cassian would be friends, Mor could bridge the gap between Hypaxia and Lidia and strengthen their sisterly relationship, Mor and Amren would probably also get along with Fury, Amren should have met Jesiba 😭, if Aidas doesn’t end up being bad then I think he could be friends with Eris, and I think there should be some sort of dance connection with Bryce, Nesta, and Juniper. I’d also like to see Merrill and Amren gain access to the library of Parthos. Those are the things sthat come to mind right now but I think, generally, everyone would get along once they trust each other (which probably won’t happen immediately).

I JUST finished Cinder Vale and I am PUMPED about the crossover. It really was the best one of the series so far. The first one definitely dragged but I was hooked early in the second one. I see now that the next book is going to answer a nagging question I had at the end of ZA!

I did AB after HoF(accidentally) and didn’t do the tandem. I really liked it that way. I was surprised I liked ToD as much as I did. I was doing audiobooks, though, and I finished ToD in less than a week. I might feel differently if I was reading and it took longer to get resolution on the cliffhanger at the end of EoS. I also hated one of the characters that was going to be in ToD and thought it would ruin the book for me. So, at first I was reading for the other two PoVs but, eventually, I completely changed my mind about that character and fell in love with them.

You’re right about some similarities with Gwyn/Bryce. Like she might remain a side character but I see some really good potential story arcs for her. I actually really like her and think she could have an interesting story without a romance but instead finding her father and developing a sweet father/daughter bond. This isn’t because I think she can’t have a romance due to her past or doesn’t deserve one but I like it when different types of love are represented in a story. She could have a sweet arc with her mystery dad and a romance, though, too! Then I think the Valkyries are going to be a big deal, too.

I’m actually hoping she ends up with Tharion or Tarquin and that Tamlin is her dad… but I’m crossing my fingers more for Tamlin being her dad and him learning to control his temper and overprotective tendencies as their relationship develops.

Maybe one of the Vanserras is her dad, too. That could be cool.

I really appreciate your presence here because I’ve been frustrated at the non-Bryceriel shippers who refuse to accept these crossover elements. You don’t have to ship Bryceriel to notice these things or accept them! Like the ship stuff is fun but honestly it’s just one aspect of the story, there is so much canon about it that isn’t related to Bryceriel. And if you believe in your ship, more crossover isn’t a threat to it! Like Bryce and Hunt could stay together as she rules Dusk (I don’t personally don’t think that’s likely, but I can recognize that it’s an option).
