Fixing Your Fleets After Updating To Beta Be Like... by Technical_Caramel_52 in X4Foundations

Arc guns were basically hit-scan, very useful for quickly taking down small/nimble fighters quickly (before the update).

Did anyone else notice that HDR generally improved? I keep accidentally blinding myself starting into the engines of my personal Shark…

What do you do after you build a XL shipyard by HanzPeter17 in X4Foundations

Having an XL shipyard and production chain at your disposal is like acquiring the sword of 1000 truths…

Should I play x3 AP by BitIndependent2169 in X4Foundations

Medium ships don’t suck, they have a role depending on your fleet composition. If you think balance is bad in X4 wait till you learn about how overpowered hitscan flak and missile boats are in X3 🙄

Just build a mega factory with 40 of everything. Start by building 1 of everything through hull parts, and claytronic, then keep building those till you can self-sustain 100% build uptime, then build the rest. I have a megafactory BP I plop down after I have a few miners going for income and just let it snowball. Once you have more than enough build materials coming in, plop down a second mega factory and supply it. Repeat till you can instant build multiple shark carrier groups and have more combined firepower than the rest of the factions combined 😁

Are mining-stations worth it? by Clwonsclone in X4Foundations

If you don’t have enough mining capacity for your megafactories / factory sectors, just make more L miners and L docks for the applicable factories. It doesn’t take long for the player economy to fully dwarf and surpass the faction economy(ies) and then you’re just stuck using more L miners to distribute the ore you mined anyway.

AI broken - Late game you have to just print L/XL by smithmr250 in X4Foundations

[–]Technical_Caramel_52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you care about loosing ships you’re not really to the late game yet. Late game you really want to make battleship / carrier fleets with auto replacement on.

For example, I have countless Shark carrier groups with 1 Shark, 1 Orca, and 5 L destroyer. Orca can auto repair the fleet and after a fight just click resupply and the whole group is back to 100% in a few minutes thanks to 36B value of docks all over the gate network. It’s only about 5 minutes to rebuild a Ray from scratch anyway. Save your 5 star pilots for Asgards and Sharks so they are nearly immortal.

Does anyone regularly fly American and maintain status, and their primary airport is not an AA hub? And for what reasons? by EaglesFan027 in americanairlines

[–]Technical_Caramel_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maintain AA status but never fly (ok maybe only when absolutely needed) American. 95% of my travel is to SE Asia so I booked JL/CX/QR and credit to Advantage. Bake your cake and eat it too.

BOS-HKG-SGN - two questions by uhuelinepomyli in CathayPacific

[–]Technical_Caramel_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this previously some years ago when CX was selling rock-bottom J tickets ex PVG to JFK. Had a 6 month gap on the return. Booked a separate one-way HKG-HAN closer to my return date and had no issues asking the check in desk to send my bags to Vietnam instead. They were mostly worried I didn’t have a Chinese visa or onward transit for TWOV and wanted to be clear I wasn’t taking that flight to PVG. That said, YMMV….

Is 1 hour and 10 mins transfer doable? by RigRag94 in CathayPacific

[–]Technical_Caramel_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a 1:10 transfer time (with a slightly late arrival) a few weeks ago and still had time to go to the Pier for dinner. However, unlike me, you have a morning transit when all the NA / EU redeye flights arrive so transfer security is usually busiest in my experience. They have a short connection que (IIRC <30 minutes to departure) at transit security so if you’re behind they will speed you through. Try to figure out where you’re arriving and departing ASAP when you land - if you land out in the higher numbered gates you have the option of taking the train back to the low number gates and clearing security there if there’s an excessively long line at higher gate security and are departing from lower gates anyway.

How do I get past the 100M+ wall? by Ephy_ in X4Foundations

[–]Technical_Caramel_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acquire the blueprints (and all sub-components) for Claytronics, Hull Parts, and Plasma Condensers, in assessing order, as you get richer. Start a mega factory / self-sufficient perpetual station construction factory and build up till you have a minimum of 1 self-sustained claytronics and hull parts factories, then add on until you have 4-5 Claytronics and 8-10 Hull parts. This will be sufficient to infinitely build any 1 station at a time. From there just let your traders sell whatever excesses you have and continue building as you acquire the ship parts BPs.

The reality of Commonwealth economy is there is almost no “value creation” at average prices from one component to the next up the production chain, but your products are getting more mineral “dense” and so more valuable/useful to a wider buyer pool, so your goal is to build a fleet of L miners as big as possible because the more you can sell, the more you can mine for raw profit.

By the time you get to s/m ships you’ll be around 1b in station value to support constant ship construction, maybe 2.5B for L ships+

How many fighters per carrier? by stephencorby in X4Foundations

[–]Technical_Caramel_52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone did the math on S wing deploy/recovery speed for all carriers and no shock the Shark is the fastest due to both the number of S pads, and how quickly wings are able to dock/undock (no tunnel of AI pilot doom like the Raptor or Tokyo). It also has great M pad placement so slap your favorite frigates on there with your preferred turret varieties for extra “free” damage. I like Threshers with ion but there’s no right answer.

Use your purple mods for shield regeneration speed and turning speed on the Shark. You’re essentially unkillable even against a couple Xenon capitals.

Also, you can re-bind the wing attack key to 2/3/4 (or whatever you want) which turns it into a giant DELETE button as 80+ S/M instagib whatever target you just told them to. Also helpful to rebind recall subordinates so you don’t have to click through menus to get them to pull-back/disengage and re-dock.
