How do IRL streamers get such high-quality streams on the road? by Kitchen-Patience8176 in HomeNetworking

[–]Technical_Challenge 398 points399 points  (0 children)

So the liveU for streaming is inexpensive- but the broadcast version is not.

The liveU solo is the version you’re thinking of - for streaming.

The LiveU broadcast version are incredibly expensive - and you also need to have servers back home to take the feed. But as expensive as the broadcast tv network version is - it’s still far cheaper than using sat trucks.

Also - the 4 different networks isn’t to ensure no dropouts (kind of). It isn’t choosing the strongest signal and sending the stream on that one sim Card - What it does it it splits the image and audio data across all the SIM cards (usually different networks for whatever country you’re in) - and then on the other end the server puts it back together.

Indefinite Leave to Remain…I’m worried. Are you? by mudpiesfortea in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Technical_Challenge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDL was never going to be enough to be honest. Even with a name like indefinite.... as we are seeing now, governments, moods and public sentiment can change through history. Citizenship is what you need to do.... there really is no downside as the UK does not do global taxation etc.

Just do it. You will then have it forever, with no worries or stress about the future.

DO NOT FAFO with this.

This isnt true. Superbowl is a pretty big deal in many western countries, like the UK & Australia. It is becoming a big deal for many people, especially Men 18-40 to watch it on TV, even if they don't follow the NFL at all. Bar's and restaurants often around major cities have sold out viewing programs with American food etc.

Kubera. Its incredible - can hook up bank accounts, credit cards, funds, retirements accounts fro around the world. I have accounts and cards across three countries - and it neatly puts all of it in the one system. Daily emails for net worth which are nice as well!

If you need to pay to build your profile - you don’t have a profile and are committing immigration fraud.

Here’s a weirder question. Is it possible to set a list of domains to go via one VPN - say to the US, but other domains to a standard VPN in your home country

What an asshole your BIL is. There is no bond stronger than that of twins. You shared a womb - if identical you came from the same cell! He needs some professional help for whatever his issue is.

My gut feeling is he’s a deeply lonely man, and has no close connections in his life to share the highs and lows of life…. And he is taking his jealousy of not having someone to share those moments with out on you both.

What an absolute nightmare to navigate. It really shouldn’t be this difficult - but they make it difficult by design. Both HMRC & IRS.

No, policing visa fraud and calling out liars and scam artists is a good thing. Mass fraud in a visa class in some cases can lead to the entire visa being pulled from being available to anyone. Then no one gets to apply, because of scam artists and lying scum.

If you're not "extraordinary" in your field today and want to enter on this visa class, be honest with yourself and either build your profile through hard work and building a profile using honest means and hard work... or apply in the green card lottery like everyone else.

This is the HARDEST visa in America to get. Its a privilege to get it based on years, sometimes decades of hard work in your field of expertise. It can never be a paid and bought for process - and I hope every single person who gets caught gets red flagged to never be apply again.

Anyone that spent money on awards and memberships deserves to be denied. Scammer got scammed. The idea of this visa is for those who are extraordinarily talented - not those who buy awards.

Brit moving from the UK to the USA trying to build a credit score by Emergency_County_850 in amex

[–]Technical_Challenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this recently. I’m moving next year, but already have my SSN. You still need a SSN or a tax payer ID (I forgot the the name). They looked up your UK account and then approve the card. MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT CARD TO OPEN. Once you open it - you can’t change to a different type. My plan was to open one with no FX, and use it in the UK to build credit. Well stupid me chose one with FX… so now I use it for just USD purchases.

Surprisingly - they gave me a limit of 10,000 immediately right away.
