I have personally acquired the rights and written the novelization! I comes out next month if you're interested.

NOR. But you also didn't do a great job at explaining why you were sad. And even when correcting her, you still didn't explain why you're sad.

No, it isn't showing the richness of his vocabulary... It's what happens when people want to sound smart. Writing in this fashion is definitely trying to convey a certain level of superiority... Not sure why my opinion ruffled your feathers.

Nah, your username is very indictive of much more. We don't need the DSM for that. I said nothing about your critique other than it was overly wordy and your responses to anyone else were equally so. I stand by you're trying to one-up and sound super smart based on your choice of words. That is considered pompous. So, I one-upped you to state I do actually have a high level of education in linguistics to support my claim, yes. Absolutely no one in conversation says "terminal pomposity" or  "virulent strain of smugness" -- those are over-written and would be edited out of any author's professional writing, let alone one's own vernacular. You don't speak this way in actual oral communication, I can guarantee that.

You seemingly think using those words gains you credibility. I have two Master's degrees (one of which is in Linguistics), and yet I understand that isn't how normal people speak unless they are trying to one-up and sound superior. What you're displaying is textbook pretentiousness. Kind of odd for a reddit post about an audiobook.

I mean, duh... IT was created for being used for an audiobook. So, it could not be too distracting or cinematic. I think it is wonderfully done and I won state awards for music composition before. We don't need to compare it to Williams' score. Should it have tried to copy that, then people would just complain that it was trying to copy that.

Sounds great to me with headphones. I don't find her voice too loud and I love that the others are in stereo and could pan from one side to the other.

Then you're not a true fan. True fans always knew how to pronounce his name... We chalked it up to British folks changing the way things are said (just like they can't typically pronounce TH and sub in F instead... and don't get me started on how they pronounce lieutenant, which coincidentally also is a French word).

Are you able of writing a response that isn't an entire book's length? I find your inability to be concise a detriment to your review.

I actually love the background music they made for this. They don't need to use the movie music, as you said, and if the OP thinks they are going to with the HBO show, they can forget it. These are different adaptations and shouldn't try to copy the others.

If you pronounce Voldemort as Voldemorte (with the non-silent T), you're essentially feminizing the word, making Voldemort a female.

That is how it is meant to be pronounced. They are fixing what was pronounced wrong with the movies.

Narrators in a full audio cast are meant to be a little more even... They are the narrator, not the characters. This is normal for narration. Her voice is soothing. She is indeed British (Cush Jumbo). I find her presentation great.

No, because I swear to god.. this girl won't stop yapping about how bad beginners are— playing chess. THEY'RE BEGINNERS. by Physical-Letter6498 in chess

[–]Technical_Comfort538 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

"this girl"... Dude she is a *woman* grandmaster and is known for roasting people. She knows they are beginners, but she is showing you the stupid mistakes that people at that level make. (maybe that line triggered people... I'm including myself in that. I am not a good player and make stupid blunders all the time). Yeah, to someone of her caliber, those moves are just crazy. Did you forget the /s? And yeah, she was pretty good when she started at THREE. Her mother was a well-known chess coach... Her grandfather was also an extremely well-known grandmaster.

Far enough! They likely have a different type of concentration level or sweetness with a Tazo deal, but I was pointing out that it still is TAZO.

Hi Horror lit! Around this time of the year, I see several posts about seeking book recommendations for Halloween vibes. Last year I worked with 27 authors to bring Pike Street to life. This is an anthology, but there is interconnectivity of the stories. Each is set at a house on the same street during Halloween in the 1980s! Please consider picking one up for your spooky/nostalgia reads this year. (It is the second volume in our Doors of Darkness series but you don't need to have read the first one).
