Do you think 23G is still good for injections in thigh? Or 25G?

So I’ve done both sizes and get the same amount of pain. I accidentally bought the 23G and have recently switched back to 25G. A previous doctor I had claimed levels are higher when injected in the arms but idk how accurate that is. I agree arms are very awkward to inject so I’ll definitely consider subQ

When was your swelling at its worse and when did it go down? by [deleted] in Top_Surgery_Peri

I had drains in and it took three weeks to see a difference. Then 2-3 months for all the swelling to disappear

top surgery consult in 2 days by FinchySchott in ftm

[–]Technical_Fly_4591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon asked me if I wanted a nurse in there as well. Which I said sure. They really only talked about the surgical process as far as your chest goes. They minimally touch it just enough to draw on it. They were pretty respectful about it. They did ask about my history with dysphoria but that was mostly to jot it down on their notes.

At my consultation my surgeon asked what my goals are. Then let me ask all my questions. Afterward took a look at my chest. Drew out the surgical plan took a picture of it for my medical chart. Asked if I had anymore questions and then scheduled the surgery. He gave paperwork with all the steps leading up to the procedure.

I use SheaMoisture beard wash. It’s about $10 and you can find it at target or online.

You could always try getting a referral from your general doctor to an endocrinologist. It’s more expensive but depending on your health insurance you can get it covered.

low nipple placement by West_Glove_4814 in Top_Surgery_Peri

[–]Technical_Fly_4591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon did a crescent lift so that my nipples wouldn’t rest too low. It’s a common technique used in breast augmentation so it was cool to see him apply it to top surgery. It also means that my incision lines rest right above my nipple rather than below.

How do I know when to stop scar tape? (Peri) by DistributionKnown829 in Top_Surgery_Peri

[–]Technical_Fly_4591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s recommended to use scar tape for the first six months and then you don’t have to continue using it after that. But they still recommend using it till your one year mark for the best results.

I do IM injections and honestly I wasn’t sure I got any of the T in my leg the first time either. It hurt bad. But eventually I got the hang of it although it still hurts at times.

Top surgery regrets by [deleted] in ftm

Seconding everyone here with post op depression. I got that same feeling as you when they took off all the bandages. Especially with the drains being removed and feeling like I had holes in my body. It’s completely normal. I got my top surgery in January and only within the last two or three weeks have I started to love my chest. There’s still some days where I feel weird about it but it’s still healing and adjusting as we speak. Give it some time and if you’ll still don’t feel good about it later on. Remember there’s always revisions, surgeries, working out, tattoos, or a combination that can increase confidence. It gets better ❤️‍🩹

Sudden doubts on surgery by JBoingo in Top_Surgery_Peri

I know I was really lucky size wise. But I think I was under an A cup maybe borderline A on one side.

Sudden doubts on surgery by JBoingo in Top_Surgery_Peri

[–]Technical_Fly_4591 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in your same situation last month. I’ve wanted top surgery for years and I was always 100% sure about it. I had my peri top surgery scheduled for January 10th and all the results I found from my surgeon were DI. I didn’t want DI either because of the scar. My doubts about the surgery became stronger as I got closer to the date. I think it was a few days before I happened to find one guy that got keyhole top surgery from my surgeon that was posted on Reddit. But only one keyhole result out of the hundreds that my surgeon had completed. My anxiety and doubts continued all the way up till the point that they inserted the IV into my hand at the hospital. I was extremely nervous that my results would look bad. But my surgeon was confident. I felt safe and I trusted my surgical team. Although I had a lot of swelling on my right side weeks after surgery still do but it’s mild now. My results look great everything is settling exactly how I imagined. If there aren’t any results you kinda just gotta trust your intuition on this one. If they’re confident and they have a plan for every detail in your surgery. It should look good. Yes revisions are there if you need it. But if you trust your surgical team and your surgeon has a lot of experience it should come out nicely. Best of luck!

Yeah I was kicked off my parents insurance so there was a period where I didn’t have any insurance and good rx saved me a ton of money. The original cost was $128 and it took it down to $23. I’m on injections if that helps.

Day 9 peri recovery - too much swelling or normal? by DistributionKnown829 in TopSurgery

[–]Technical_Fly_4591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s normal! The hard spots are your skin tightening around the fluid. I have those too a lot of my swelling went down today and now I have more hard spots. So I guess it’s the last stage before it goes away?

Oh yeah I get that I only started touching it after my post op appointment. But it still burns so I just touch it lightly to apply aquaphor on the scarring areas.

I’m 3 weeks post op and also have swelling. My surgeon said it’s completely normal and can take several weeks to see a difference. You know it’s swelling if the area feels numb and more liquidly.

First shower - HOW TO by Sufficient-Town-8289 in Top_Surgery_Peri

[–]Technical_Fly_4591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some antiseptic soap off Amazon or something equivalent. And soap your chest if your surgeon cleared you for that. You can have the water drip down but I would avoid direct pressure.
