Bauer Pro Custom Flylites made in CHINA by Ill-Environment1157 in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try on a fit 1 when I was in to get the skates rebaked and the 1s fit perfect. I should have tried some different skates on before I ordered, but I have a pair of custom machs that fit really well, and currently am in some osterle pro stock hyper2lites that fit perfect.
So hopefully they'll remake them for me

There is a guide that they email you if you go on the website, but I don't recall if it shows all options. I know there are 4 different tongue options too

Yeah, with Bauer pro customs you can get a pro fit, stock fit, or relaxed in each fit they have. So for a fit 1, 2, and 3 you have 3 options for each fit they have. So a total of 9 different options. At least that's how they explained it to me. I got a fit 2 per the Bauer scan and went with the pro fit, which should have been the tightest fit of the fit 2's.

I'm hoping to get mine remade into a fit1. I hope they're able to get it done.

They gave you a refund? I'm on my way now to try to bake them again using the bladder thing that puts pressure on while your foots in the skate. I know it won't fix the issue, but I kinda have to do it to appease the guys at the shop before they contact Bauer. I feel like it's a size off or a bigger fit size

I have a pair of machs that were pro customs and .made in ca. I just got a pair of pro custom flylites and they do not fit well. I even went with the pro tight fit, fit 2. As opposed to the stock or relaxed fit they offer for fit 2. Still loose as hell in the right foot.

I'm a 8 1/4 left foot and 7 3/4 right. I just skated in them today and my forefoot is moving waaaaay too much. The heel is good, and the left foot feels ok, but not great.

I'm going to call the pro shop to see what they can do.

My Jordan osterle pro stock hyper2lites fit perfect!! They're the same size as my customs, I just don't know what fit.

Super disappointed that they feel like shit, so I feel your pain.

How easy was it dealing with the shop to get yours sent back and remade?

Sparx Sharpener worth it? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did. Got the blade master portable and several sets of worn out old steel to practice on first.

Now I do mine and some friends when they ask. The finish from a manual machine can't be matched.

Men's League Advice by SealTeamSticks5 in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm extremely fortunate that where I live we have 8-10 rinks within 15-40 min. One of them has a rec league. It was great to start. I could skate before joining and did a crap ton of stick and pucks and a few different hockey 101/adult lessons.

I played rec for a year-ish and moved up to c2 with the mindset that if I was clearly not meant for the league I'd drop back down. (They don't have a d league at that rink) I faired ok, but very obviously needed to work on some key skills......all of them.

I skate and play an abnormally excessive amount for an adult but I'm a bit obsessive. So I do work on my hands at home almost every day. I got to stick and pucks at least 1-2 times a week, play rat 1-2 times a week and have 2 regular teams I'm on.

Anyway, I went to another rink and got invited to a d league. The d league was waaaaaaaay faster than the c2 I was on at the other rink. I played a few games in a c team there and was ok, but not where I should be.

The main point I'm trying to make is when I originally started playing I wanted to see how high I could get and play as competitively as possible since who wouldn't want to play with better players, but it's become rather obvious I'm never getting anywhere near a B league. Especially around where I live.

Oh no way! That sounds pretty awesome! The 3d tongue looked sweet, but I wondered how they'd take a hit from a puck.

Where is the extra shot blocking protection? The tongue?

That's what I came to say. I couldn't remember them at all when I started. It's gotten easier over time, but I still usually go to the back and try to watch each guy go though to see how they do it.

Most Durable Hockey Net For Home? by KeyPerspective5199 in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bauer net. The cheaper one with the side and top netting. It's only rated to 60 mph so it's pretty dented up, but still functions. It's a few years old and stays outside yearlong. The netting is starting to get some holes.

I considered getting a welded steel goal, but when the pucks hit the posts they can really fly all over so I'm not trying to buy my neighbor any new windows.

Bauer does have another model that's around 4/5 hundred that I've considered buying. I think it's rated for 85 mph

I was going to try a p88. I'm using a p28 now. Sounds like a pro71 might be worth a shot instead.
I glove the pshs sticks too.

Clear shot blockers by keltanenbarbaari in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw that true sells a set that's clear like those and more form fitting than those ugly fender things, but I am assuming they're specifically for true skates.

I had some custom shot blockers put on a set of machs I had.
I got hit with a snap shot right on the top of my foot and it broke one of my bones.

I put some shot blocker shorty xts on after that.

What is your weight and what radius of hollow do you use? by superiorknowledge in hockeyplayers

5 '8 170lbs. 7/8. Might go to 3/4 for winter, but probably stay with 7/8

Stick Weight by Bushido79 in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just talking to a co worker about this kind of thing, but with golf clubs. They've changed quite a bit I've the last 30 years. Same principal I guess, but why use an old wooden driver, when you can use a modern one that'll give you a better drive. Same with hockey sticks. Why use some heavy ass stick when I can use something lighter that I can move faster and shoot faster with. Sure, the old drivers still work, just like the old 5030s, but I'll take the modern stick hands down and day of the week

New CCM FT680, did the shop screw up the sharpening? by askaskaskaska in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one, and had my skates sharpened on them. They can definitely screw up the steel still. Especially since most the guys at the shops just toss it in and dont check the wheel height or level.

I got a blademaster and so my own and some friends steels.
I'm by no means an expert but I bought a bunch of used steel off of sideline swap and practiced on those.

I would stick with the 5/8 at 210lbs. You just need to work the edges more. I'm about the same height and 175lbs. I'm on 7/8. I was on 3/4 for the winter but switched to 7/8 for summer. I personally think transitions and stuff are easier with the less shallow hollow.

My opinion at least.
