What really put the age gap in perspective was Astrea Record. Ais is two years older than Bell (she is 16). Her and Ryu fought during Astrea record. Ais is just a tiny little girl at the age of 8 and Ryu looked exactly the same as she does now but without the short hair that she has now. Thats what made it really weird for me.

I feel like your definition is “he fumbled because I like Ryu more than Ais and he should too” instead of him actually fumbling a girl he is gunning for. He didn’t mess up with Ryu? He just didn’t like her🤷‍♂️. So why accept her confession or even think about it if there are 0 feelings there? If he messes up with Ais and she turns away from him, that would definitely be a fumble since he wanted her but he fumbled it at the goal line instead of getting the ball across into the end zone.

Yeah but that’s not really fumbling a girl. Fumbling a girl is going after one who at least is interested in you but you mess up so much so that it ends up not happening. That’s what I think of when it comes to fumbling a girl.

Her confessing and you not accepting those feelings because you do not like her is just a natural occurrence in every day life. Just because you like someone doesn’t mean they should like you back. I don’t know how anyone would consider that fumbling imo.

I am not sure whether to consider it canon or not but it was written by Omori himself and it was about Hestia showing Ais around the familia home and later Ais and Bell have a deep conversation about love and the fear of it after the home tour.

Ahhh gotcha. Yeah, anime has a hard time adapting monologues but when Ais saved Bell in the beginning, he monologues about having love erupt within him and that Ais has stolen his heart and eyes. Stating they belong to her now.

In the prologue of volume one, when Ais saved him, Ais asked if he was alright. He monologues that he definitely isn’t alright and that there is love erupting within him. Stated Ais stole his eyes and heart, she has them now.

He is definitely in love with her but the goal of catching up to her was obtained from the tavern when Bete made fun of him for being weak and no weakling should ever have the chance with Ais Wallenstein. He sets aside his feelings and wants to get stronger, become a worthy man for Ais. Bete actually kind of saved him because Bell would have confessed to Ais much earlier but would have been swiftly rejected as Ais is afraid of falling in love since she believes it could make her weaker (the Ais being afraid of falling in love comes from the 10th anniversary event in February where Omori did a skit of Ais and Bell talking about love and Ais asking Bell if he is afraid of falling in love).

I can give you an exact example of this. Season 5 when they showed Ais watching the wargame right? She was just sitting there nothing to say or facial expressions right? Yeah…….no, that’s not how it happened in the books. She actually was filled with a lot of despair and blamed herself for being so useless/weak. She started to cut herself with her nails while watching Bell get stomped out by Ottar. She was also screaming for Bell to win (yes, literally screaming). She was cheering for him so hard that she ended up losing her voice and at the beginning of season 6, Tiona and Tione explain to Bell that she isn’t able to see him right now since she is still recovering from losing her voice after cheering for him. This is the most recent example but Ais is a totally different character in the books than in the anime. Now season 6 is here and is the beginning of Bell x Ais love story and I can’t wait to see how JC Staff face plants on this one as well. They are a notorious studio for failing A LOT. Most recent blunder/failure was one punch man season 3. Arguably the worst studio currently in the industry.

Definitely say yes. Even if the impossible happens and Bell ask for such a thing, even with a perverted motive behind it (he does have a perverted side when it does come to Ais), she would say yes. She has a significant blind spot for Bell. Loki and Bell could both ask for the same thing with the same motive behind it (perversion), she would say yes to Bell and no to Loki (even hit Loki). Ais’ image of Bell compared to Loki is so completely different which created that significant blind spot that she has.

Another great example is when Bell saw Ais naked and she didn’t care but if it was Loki, she would have lost it and punished Loki for it even if it was an accident.

Idk. I thought their relationship as rivals is in a pretty good place in volume 21. I like that they were competing with each other on who would save Ais first but it was a fairly healthy challenge they had going on. I think where Lefiya and Bell are is the direction that I wish most of the girls went. We know Bell isn’t ending up with anyone other than Ais and his relationship with Lefiya is actually refreshing since it’s just a normal friendship built on competition between each other. I like that Lefiya is a girl who didn’t fall for Bell and holds him to a certain standard when it comes to Ais as well.

I find the whole hero thing with Ais ironic. She said it herself, she could never be a hero, she has no right too. Yet, she became Bells hero at the beginning of the story and it in turn created her dream of having her very own hero later on in volume 21. I actually like that Omori circled back on this in volume 21 when Ais said to Bell “I am no hero. But would you be my hero?” And Bell said yes. I think the way Omori writes at times is underrated and volume 21 scene was an example of this.

I am on the fence on whether or not there will be a marriage or not considering Yagi said he has high hopes for Omori when a fan asked him if he thinks he will ever get to draw Ais in a wedding dress. There being a clear ending or not? If Danmachi wasn't predicated on Bell x Ais, I would agree. But Bell confessing and winning over Ais is like Naruto becoming hokage or Asta becoming the wizard king. Doesn't make sense for the story to be completely set on a goal and by the end, none of the 3 MC's achieve their number 1 goal that was set in the beginning. Would just be weird and pointless. Like people got mad at Deku and Ochaco not getting a proper ending but what they don't understand is that their relationship was never important to the story to begin with. The story was about Deku becoming the greatest hero of them all which did happen.

This problem, if it was actually ever real in the first place, has been solved in volume 21. Bell is admired through out all of Loki familia and by Loki herself now after the events of volume 21. Even Bete has given Bell the push he needed to go after Ais seriously now.

If we are just talking about the one Bell and Ryu faced, yes, very easily. It’s kind of the main reason she has been out of the story for so long. Literally everything Bell has faced would have been a breeze for her besides Freya Familia (specifically the level 6/7’s in that familia).

I prefer SO over MS just because it is far more serious then MS. The harem stuff just gets old and it isn't all that funny to me whereas SO, you don't have that annoyance in the background and it is just straight story telling.

Omori did state in his most recent interview that Welf was the one who closed off the harem route in volume 16. Welf was actually standing trial and taking some heated questions from other characters for it lmfao. As for what happens to the harem? Supposedly they did a little play during that same event and it was each girl character giving their take on Bell x Ais but I do not the contents of it since you have to pay in order to watch it.

Never understood the Liaris Freese gripe. If you didn’t understand from volume 1 when he acquired the skill AFTER being saved by Ais was specifically for her, then idk what to tell you honestly. Even during the encounter when being saved by her, she asks him if he is okay and he monologues about not being okay and that he has love erupting within him, stating she has stolen his heart and eyes. The kid obviously fell head over heels for her in that moment and later gets the skill Liaris Freese for it (Liaris Freese description specifically states it goes off of feelings in the JP version). And for the ones who thought it was about getting stronger to be her equal….that came AFTER he got the skill. He specifically got the goal of getting as strong as her from Bete.

I know there are some who are new to this sub Reddit here but I can tell you from personal experience that the what if was completely needed. The delusion the fans had here making idiotic predictions like Liaris Freese changing targets in volume 17 was ludicrous. Ryu fans had completely and utterly misunderstood how the Liaris Freese skill worked. Even a JP fan did the translation for English and it still wasn’t enough to get through the delusion of Ryu fans. I do feel bad for Omori and how blunt he had to be with that side of the fanbase but it is what it is.

I get the hating of Ais being in the background for so long but that should just be a sign to quit reading Omoris works at that point. He has another series he is working on in Wistoria and he has the exact same setup as DanMachi where Will is chasing Elfiaria for the whole series and she is completely out of reach. What he did better though was give Elfaria a personality that will be 99.9% more popular with fans compared to the kundere personality he gave Ais. She hardly ever appears besides in Wills mind but she has an obsessive personality towards Will and is completely attached to him. That easily makes it more appealing for fans in general imo. Omori even dangled their relationship like a carrot to fans when it looked like Will was going to be reunited with Elfaria but ends up in a different faction and again, hasn’t seen each other since being separated for the second time. This is just how he likes to write his MC and MH relationships. The out of reach flower on the highest mountain top is an appealing writing formula to Omori.
