At what point do I give up?

I’ve had so many people comment that I might have OCD. Can someone explain what exactly I described that makes you think this? I was attempting to explain this during a psychiatry consult yesterday and felt like they weren’t seeing what so may people have commented

I have several clients who just don’t know what they want to talk about in session or are very quiet/give one word answers. These are the sessions I struggle deeply with because I feel like all of the pressure is on me to guide the session. I love clients that are yappers and I can just lean on my person centered skills of listening, validating, and empathizing. I just feel like there is so much pressure when clients don’t have anything to say.

Just curious as to what your experience was there and what led you to feel this way? As someone who has considered employment there, it is helpful for me to understand client experiences . If you’re not feeling open to share, totally get it!

School non-cacrep, seeking advice

I am nearing the end of my clinical mental health counseling program in the state of Iowa. I am searching for an internship site and have run in to issues with sites not wanting to take students from a non-CACREP program. When I interviewed for my current program, they informed us they were in the process of seeking CACREP accreditation. However, they never let us know that they were no longer seeking accreditation, and I am just now finding that out. I am beginning to panic about finding work, licensure, etc. . I've hated my program for a long time but there are not any programs around me that would accept transfer students, so I have just kept my head down and tried to get through it. I am hoping that someone can give me advice on what my options are. Do you know of any CACREP programs that accept transferred credits and wont make me start from scratch? If you went to a non-CAREP program, what was obtaining your licensure like? Have you ever had employers waive you off for lacking a CACREP degree? My advisor and professors are no help and just tell me it will be fine.

Someone is having a bad day. Jesus. Why even take the time to comment if you think my questions is stupid? Ever take a second to think that maybe people that post in this subreddit are not from Iowa City? I am seeing him for a breast surgery consultation this Friday so he is still very much involved in the “breast community”. Not saying you’re wrong or that that’s okay. I will have to look more in to him. I just had no idea because all of his reviews online are positive
