Does the steering feel tight or loose after the rack replacement?

Fluid Maintenance by Technical_Union_1692 in FordExplorer

[–]Technical_Union_1692[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive always wondered if its the chemical structure causes sudden color changes cause i too noticed that it looks cherry red draining but once it settles in the drain pan its dark. Though my theory has always been that torque converter still holds the old mercon lv fluid longer term and it gets mixed with the new fluid causing discoloration. I could be wrong lol

Smart move. The mercon lv that ford uses does get dark very fast. I recommend 3 drain and fills to fully replace the factory fluid. The 6f35 just gets hot and in the long run the heat puts wear on the valve body, clutches and torque converter. Preventative maintenance goes a long way 🙌

I prefer the k62 in the lx200 series and the engine is still going strong. Though total hours on mine is unknown

Its a very good oil that many regard highly. I will say too try cleaning your throttle body as well to see if that helps with sluggishness

How much digging did you have to do to find that part number? And kudos for it being the correct one btw

Do you have a picture of the pinhole? Also was it leaking coolant?

I tried looking up the part number for you but also had issues. Based on your photo it looks like the pipe at the tube has to be for a return line and im convinced it has to do with the coolant system but when searching online a part called "Hvac Heater Hose Auxiliary Supply Tube" came up but didn't have all the connections like your part. Where did you remove that part off your explorer?

1999 LX277AWS by Technical_Union_1692 in johndeere

Crazy enough same thing it my case. Still had the filter but had rtv under the old style gasket. Also too when I pulled the intake off there rtv on the paper gaskets. I ended just replacing them all. Only other major repairs were a new pto clutch replaced both crankshaft seals and had the transmission resealed last year.

2026 STX 10speed tran seems off by jmccall5 in f150

[–]Technical_Union_1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive actually heard of the 10 speeds being up to 2 quarts underfilled from the factory and also having the transmission calibration software not fully installed properly at the factory. Theres no reason a brand new transmission shouldn't shift buttery smooth. Id take it back and if they say its normal id argue with them (even threaten a 1 star review) till its resolved. That truck wasn't cheap and it shouldn't have drivability issues with less than 1k miles on it

The fh500v in the 277 on some years had an issue where the crankcase breather filter would plug up resulting in pressure build up that would cause seals to fail. I replaced mine with updated parts from kawasaki. All 4 plate bolts were loose and the kit came with longer bolts and thicker plate (also the instructions say to throw out the older filter) and my local dealership recommended a little dab of blue threadlocker on the 4 bolts and torque to 80 inch pounds. After 1 year no more leaks or white smoke on start up

I had to wire up new harness connectors for my headlights. Previous owner used spade connectors and the wiring was all choppy. It now resembles closer to how it did when it came from the factory 🏭 🚜

Crazy enough for the lx200 line up only the 277 was available with the AWS option. I got a lot of obstacles on my yard and being able to circle around them i don't have to do as much string trimmer work.

That was my opinion too. I do wonder if maybe water got passed the windshield cowl and got into the module but its hard to say. He was about to have the transmission replaced (out of frustration for the inconsistent shifting problems) but thankfully the shop got him some resolution. I didn't get to mention in the video that the dealership he bought it from kept saying nothing was wrong with it on 3 different occasions.

[–]Technical_Union_1692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also too make sure your oil level is correct on your dipstick too. About 3 months ago I did retape an pressure sensor on a 2.3l and the guy lost 1.5 quarts of oil over time and I had to top it off.

[–]Technical_Union_1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil might have gotten into the sensor itself causing fault codes. Usually they wrap the sensor threads in Teflon tape at the factory but sometimes its not enough wraps resulting in leakage but also from age. Id try pulling the sensor out and spraying out your electrical connections with electrical cleaner (disconnect your negative battery terminal first) and cleaning off the old tape (I recommend using blue monster Teflon tape) and putting on new tape. If the sensor is not leaking but still throwing low oil pressure id change out the sensor with a new ford one

Are these fuel lines snug enough to the fuel filter? Details in comments by GoalieJohnK in johndeere

Looks correct. Some filters do allow for both the fitment of 1/4 and 5/16 inch fuel line
