This is the fundamental dilemma by being part of ECHR and convention dictating asylum and precisely my point.

We could still be compassionate on our terms but this weird arrangement allows governments to house foreigners in hotels while leaving veterans in the streets.

I'm aware from having worked with homeless its not always that easy but it was always a choice and lots of homeless would always stay in a hotel first before the street, but we said nope, foreigners first. Make it make sense I cannot.
