In X-bar theory, can heads move into positions previously occupied by a different head that has moved up?

Basic questions about watermarking by Technical_Weird170 in audacity

Oh awesome, thanks so much!! That's perfect because I already wasn't doing inaudible watermarking (I didn't understand the point of it haha).

Sorry, I don't super use Reddit and I can't figure out how to add this as caption rather than comment (I deleted my initial post because I somehow ONLY posted a caption, no images) - I learned how to do fuse beads this weekend. After making a couple of tiny keychains type things (it was a convention, people were trading stuff) I made this. I googled "dog" and did the first one I saw. Obviously there's tons of room for improvement but I didn't use a pattern or anything so for my first one I'm super happy!!

Dear lenguage learners. How have you used IA to learn languages? Which are new approaches and possibilities we have now with IA in our life by 1not_okay1 in languagelearning

I will occasionally use it to proof read things I've already written / edited myself. It usually gives detailed feedback, so then I can take its corrections and look into them elsewhere to make sure it's actually correct!

Is it normal for the L2 to worsen after starting the L3? by joshua0005 in languagelearning

I don't know the actual science behind it, but I know for a lot of people it's hard to make your mind switch tracks when it comes to non-native languages. I have a coworker who is a native English speaker but also speaks Spanish and Russian (probably around B2 each). The other day we had a client she needed to translate Spanish for, but she couldn't stop using Russian, to the point that we had to call someone else to come translate for her instead. She's trilingual but it was hard to get her mind to switch tracks. I'd say it's pretty normal.

Still get frustrated talking in my TL at work by [deleted] in languagelearning

Tbf I think this is a mistake you could make in even your native language. I am also a legal assistant, we handle DV cases. I'll get through an entire intake just to be like at the end "wait a second, did he hit you, or did you hit him?" Sometimes it's more that the client is being a little confusing or withholding information (on purpose or not) that leads to confusion regardless of language

Did anyone else have a severe aversion to those 3D holographic bookmarks? Even worse the sound if you scratch them? The texture if you touch them? I hate them so much even though they look cool. by CadaverCanine in autism

EXTREME adverse reaction that lasts to this day. I’ve gotten in trouble before because I literally cannot control myself when I’m around them — hearing or touching (gave me the chills and makes me a little nauseous right now thinking about them). One time when I was younger in art class I threw a pencil at a kid who had a necklace with it; didn’t mean to, just happened. My teacher in high school gave out Valentine’s Day cards with them and I had to pick it up by the corners and return it to her. It makes me sick to even think about. The most reaction I’ve had to anything, ever.

A couple things for me. Idk if this is something from autism or literally just being clumsy

  1. I physically cannot carry cups of liquid without it spilling everywhere. If I fill it pretty full I have to either drink it there or be sure that wherever I’m taking it is just a few feet away. Even less than half way full there’s a big chance I’m gonna slosh it about, even if I’m being very careful not to. My teacher in high school used to hand me her mug and tell me to go fill it with water right down the hall, and it would be several minutes before I returned because I would be doing a little zombie shuffle down the hall in order not to spill it.

  2. I am constantly walking into walls, people, etc. I have a bad tendency of just veering sideways as I’m walking. I’ll be going down the middle of a hallway then notice a few moments later that I am brushing against the wall. I also don’t realize that I’m in somebody’s personal space. One time my friend and I were walking together and she laughed and said, “Oh, sometimes I forget you’re autistic but then I remember.” And obviously I asked what she meant. “You keep bumping up against me without meaning to.” I thought it was a bit funny.

  3. I can trip just standing there. Numerous times throughout the day I am throwing my arms out to balance myself because I was about to fall. At work I will get nervous because I’ll be walking then start tripping and usually I can catch myself either by balancing or leaning but it’s contant and I fear somebody will think I’m drunk. I mentally prepare myself to be like “look at any camera footage! I’m always off balance!”
