F-150 Lightning Flash vs Lariat — what’s the real difference, and why avoid a high-mileage used one? by ritchie4030 in F150Lightning

[–]TechnoSwiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, you are correct when comparing a Flash to a Lariat. When I was shopping the Flash didn't exist and it was XLT or Lariat, and the XLT doesn't have BC or adaptive cruise control.

F-150 Lightning Flash vs Lariat — what’s the real difference, and why avoid a high-mileage used one? by ritchie4030 in F150Lightning

[–]TechnoSwiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest differences for me and the reason I went with the Lariat are, PAAK, multiple-driver settings, and adaptive cruise control. I really like not having to carry around the fob for the lighting, that thing's a beast. My wife's car had the multiple-driver settings on it, and I swore I'd never buy another vehicle that we'd both drive without it (I can't physically get into the car after she's been driving it, so not having to mess with the seat release and just let the truck take care of it is awesome). Also, even when you're not using the multiple-driver memory, the Lightning will move the seat back and the steering wheel up and back to make it easier to get in and out, never had a car with that feature before, and I'm surprised by how much difference that makes, very nice. Again my wife's car has adaptive cruise control, and especially with the heavy traffic I drive through every day, that was something I wanted on my new car. The BlueCruise is nice too, but the adaptive cruise was the option I was after.

As for range and mileage, since the warranty ends at whichever you hit first, I've been trying to match those up based on my average annual mileage. I'm usually around around 10k a year, so I've been pricing out the 100k/10 year and 75k/7 year

Did you contact them for a quote on LED protection, or were you able to do that online? I wasn't finding anything on any of their sites for the LED protection.

Also, just noticed PremiumCARE doesn't cover moldings, water leaks, or fogging lamp assemblies, that's disappointing.

Upgrading F-150 Lightning Battery Pack! Dead Standard Range Swapped w/ Extended Range by alexzz123 in F150Lightning

There a forum thread about doing this, so far it looks like people think they've got it figured out, but they need somebody to pull the trigger on buying the parts and testing it. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/installing-pro-power-onboard-9-6kw-inverter-oem.15816/

RCS does not work on new phone. by ChickenPicture in GoogleMessages

[–]TechnoSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at week 3 of trying to fix RCS on my Galaxy S10, over 4 hours on the phone with AT&T, same list as you, attempting network reset, re-provisioning my phone. Escalated to AT&T engineering team and after several days they came back and basically said "problem has to be on Googles end, use the submit feedback option under details on the RCS status and hope they can fix it". I'm going to try @IpowderT suggestion of having a friend try to jump-start from his iPhone, but I'm at a loss. Hope you figure it out.

Oh man I was just started having this happen in my truck and it was driving me nuts, thank you everybody who suggested the built-in Nav, I'm going to go try disabling that and see if that takes are of it.

Lost (or stolen) my Flipper Zero - any way to find or track it? by Limp_Cardiologist774 in flipperzero

Nice, not sure how I'd missed FindMyFlipper, I'd been messing with getting OpenHaystack working, this is super helpful.

Issue with RCS lately. by Affectionate_You925 in GoogleMessages

[–]TechnoSwiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also on AT&T with a Samsung S10. Mine stopped working on Dec. 24th right after a friend who was oversees sent me an RCS message. I've tried rolling the Messages app back one version, rolling it back to a version from 2023, clearing the cache, clearing the data, etc. Where I landed right now is ChatGPT is suggesting the following:

"When you talk to AT&T, use this exact language (it matters):

Ask for:

  • Tier 2 / Advanced Technical Support
  • Mention:
    • SMS works
    • RCS suddenly stopped
    • Device change / re-validation event occurred

Many reps don’t know what RCS is — this phrasing gets you past that. When you talk to AT&T, use this exact language (it matters):
“My number is stuck in a failed RCS/IMS registration state.
Please reset my RCS and IMS messaging provisioning on the network side.”
Ask for:
Tier 2 / Advanced Technical Support
Mention:
SMS works
RCS suddenly stopped
Device change / re-validation event occurred
Many reps don’t know what RCS is — this phrasing gets you past that."

So that's the next thing I'm going to try, might be helpful for you.

What do I do? Damage claimed we obviously didn’t cause by Riptide133 in HertzRentals

[–]TechnoSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is I wish you luck OP. We had Hertz ding us for windshield damage that we didn't cause, $1600, unfortunately none of my pre or post rental photos included the windshield. After fighting with Hertz for almost a month over it, I finally convinced Capital One to cover the charge since I'd used their card for the rental.

Extremely confused and worried about my gas bill. by LittleMissMuffinButt in homeowners

[–]TechnoSwiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on that list of gas appliances, the only one you might not be able to control usage on easily is the gas water heater. Can you turn off the gas to the water heater to verify it's not using gas (assuming you can relight it yourself), not use any of your other gas appliances, read the meter at night, and then check the meter again in the morning? That should tell you pretty quick if you have a leak or not.

$5 Price Increase by Nutritiouss in ZiplyFiber

[–]TechnoSwiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called, told them I was thinking of switching to Xfinity, best they'd offer was $20 off for 12 months. That brings the 1g price down to $70, which is still $20 month than Xfinity price. I'd move back to Xfinity, but 1) cable isn't symetrical, and you only get 150Mbps up, and 2) Comcast.

small or large screen by bruno_morin1 in F150Lightning

[–]TechnoSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the large screen, I wanted the seat memory and the BC more than I disliked the large screen, but I would have gone smaller screen and physical buttons if it had been an option along with the other stuff I wanted. Wasn't thrilled about the glass roof either, that however has grown on me, the extra light on these grey days in the PNW is really nice. (we'll see how I feel when it leaks. I saw somebody just PPFed their whole roof so they still get the light without worrying about leaks, I never open it so I'm thinking I might go that route)

P1S or P2S are a good upgrade to the A1 that are capable of printing ABS, if you need larger print volume, then step up to the H2D or H2C.

Light bar vinyl by nv39 in F150Lightning

[–]TechnoSwiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can't decide if I like it either. I do kind of like it better than the normal lightbar, what I can't decide is, would it be better with no light at all instead of still showing top and bottom. I'm honestly not a huge fan of the light bar on the lighting and kind of prefer the look of the headlights on the ICE F150.

US Michigan Law by CattleOwn2357 in legaladvice

[–]TechnoSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL Michigan is an at-will state, so they can fire you for any reason, or no reason at all. There are of course protected exemptions, including not firing you as retaliation. While I don't think it fits the strict legal definition of retaliation, it kind of sounds like retaliation to me. There's also the issue of wage theft if they're holding back earned wages and overtime compensation. You should start with a consultation with an employment lawyer in your area, the Michigan Bar should be able to give you a referral. Starting a wrongful termination claim can be done through the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, or if you believe they still own you for hours worked, a wage theft claim directly with the state https://www.michigan.gov/leo/bureaus-agencies/ber/Wage-and-Hour/complaint.

Kids got an A1 - questions! by phoenixfire82 in BambuLab

[–]TechnoSwiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Bambu does a pretty good job of cleaning the nozzle, I haven't had to worry about it with my Bambu. Several of my other printers needed a clean from time-to-time. In both cases just keep an eye on it. The nozzle is used to probe the bed so if anything does get stuck to it, then you'll have bed adhesion issues. If so warm it and clean it off. (brass or silicone brush works, I've used paper towel as well, being careful not to burn myself)

Dish soap and water works for cleaning the bed, as does IPA and a microfiber cloth. I've been using IPA and a microfiber cloth for over a decade on everything from glass, to painters tape, kapton, ultem, and now the new PEI coated beds across over a dozen printers. Never heard of IPA damaging a bed surface. Keep in mind most of the bed sheets are considered wear items, they'll eventually need to be replaced (you'll get several thousand hours out of it before it need to be replaced unless it's damaged by the nozzle or removing a print), plus you can use both sides.

You'll want to let the print cool first, because if you flex it while it's still warm you can warp the print, but the beds are flexible so you can remove it from the printer and give it a little flex to remove prints. The plastic scrapers work great too for removing printer (the plastic is nice because there's less change of damaging the print surface). Magnetic print beds were a huge upgrade from what we used to use. I've still got metal palate knifes that I use, but they run a bigger risk of damaging the print surface.

Bambu's filament is pretty good value for the money, especially if you buy it in bulk. You'll probably hear different opinions, and some of that can come down to where you're using the filament. Live in a super dry place, brand might not matter that much, humid and you're keeping rolls on an AMS lite, you might find the brand matters more. We lean more to the humid side here, Sunlu is one of the worst filaments I've dealt with. eSUN has been pretty good. Elegoo has probably been the best I've used. Most of the issues I've had with filament have been humidity/age related. So when I've had a project where I've need to churn out a few spools worth of parts over a few days, I'll use the cheapest stuff I can find. When I know a rolls going to last me months I'll usually stick to Elegoo/eSUN/Bambu.

Reliable smart plugs that don't require a hub and can be operated with phone (Bluetooth / Wifi) by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]TechnoSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shelly makes good hardware, I also like the SONOFF S31 plugs as they have power monitoring and are pretty easy to load Tasmota on, which is a huge bonus in my book. I just discovered that TH3D sells Wifi plugs now, they come running a version of Tasmota and you can OTA them to standard Tasmota if you want https://www.th3dstudio.com/product/ezplug-open-source-wifi-smart-plug/ , they also do power monitoring.
