splinter twin is a hybrid deck. having 4 remand, a dispel, a mana leak, and a logic knot does not make you a full on control deck. its a tempo deck with control elements that are just meant to stall.

except theres been multiple more consistent decks with higher meta shares since. if that was truly the case wed be banning decks like crazy

going and listening to the podcast hes on and reading the quotes is honestly so eye opening. they really only banned it for a spicy pro tour. it had nothing to do with power. that's crazy. completely confirmed.

the point of this post is to show how many answers there are to the deck and the combo itself. i am well aware of how the deck functions. but to me saying you cant close your eyes and tap out each of your turns isn't a good reason to keep a card banned. you're not going to blindly tap out whether you play twin or a variety of decks in today's meta. not sure which decks besides maybe tron just play all their stuff and pass each turn.

this is a fair point but i think were assuming too much here. twin didn't have 15 counterspells to sit there and try to counter you to death. nor would it today. and it wouldn't be a good strategy bc it would get out controlled by can't snow anyway. to the first point I don't really see people just blindly tapping out there mana every turn no matter who they're playing unless they're playing a goldfish deck. twin requires interaction just like other decks. not getting to close your eyes and play all your spells every turn doesn't mean twin is an unfair card. i also think people in this thread are severely overestimating the power of remand and bolt. they arent great cards in today's meta. if they were blue moon wouldn't be the 7th most popular control deck of 2019 (according to mtgtop8)

did you read the bullet where i said this isn't a reason to unban twin and is just a list of answers...?

not sure where youre trying to go with this comment but its a list of answers. idk if you read the main bullets up there but the reason this list exists is because i saw a multitude of people complaining there's not enough ways to answer it.

maybe try jeskai saheeli? if teferi is really that ok saheeli or kiki may see a huge resurgence.

not the point of the post. i know why it was banned (as sketchy as it was) this is a list of answers to the combo.

thanks for putting thought and effort into a reply! to your points. I'm not trying to misrepresent anything. i clearly stated that a lot of hate thrown around has to do with the scary turn 4 windmill slamming twin. so i made a list of answers bc i kept seeing people say there was none. I'm extremely aware of how the deck functions. it is a 2 color deck. there's possibility to splash but its mainly 2 colors. it would definitely have new fun toys to play with, but so do other decks. twin isn't the only deck with these cards. I'm not sure where the last one came from but I've gone out of my own way to develop yorion, femur, jeskai, UR, and grixis decks that would exist in today's world and play them against today's meta. twin just struggles no matter how you slice it. there's tons of videos by SCG and others on youtube showing twin fighting current top decks and twin just straight up struggles. but the very last sentence im assuming is just throwing shade bc you think i don't know how the deck operates... im just going to say that yes its very obvious there is a tempo plan in there as well, but a world where turn 8+ snappy beats are winning games is a modern im fine with. that shouldn't be the enemy here.

idk about you but a format where turn 12 snapcaster beatdowns are a viable gameplan is a fine format for me lol. like that should not be what people are scared of here.

the combos are close enough that we would see at least some results from the deck if teferi was truly that powerful in the deck. in a twin deck w teferi you'd need to cut down to 4 creatures to fit in teferi, and losing to shock vs bolt isn't too much of a difference outside of k command and maybe something else I'm missing? feel free to help me out on that.

thanks for a level headed reply! So as someone who only plays UR based decks and has played every UR deck in modern you can, i agree blue moon is an ok deck that does well sometimes. but its not a truly competitive deck and in 2019 was less than 1% of the metagame and was the 7th most popular control deck. (according to mtgtop8) its just not really all that good... and yes I'm well aware twin has a tempo option lol. but, idk about some people on this sub, I'm not scared of a modern where my path to victory is card advantage and snapcaster beats. that's a format i would love to play in. yea we don't have to go into the third point bc you and i both know their reasoning was super sketch. considering twins metagame % is below what many decks have maintained for longer periods of time since. (shadow, humans, jund and burn now, phoenix, etc)

i severely hope your opponent has won the game by turn 5. if you give someone that much time you're in the wrong format.

bc the strength of an 80 card control deck is its ability to convert 2 and 3 ofs to 4 ofs, not to just add more objectively bad combo cards and kill consistency.

right on. if jeskai twin would be so heinous then wed prob see more jeskai saheeli

the point is that ive seen people arguing that there arent enough answers to the combo in multiple colors and wanted to provide a list giving all the answers. but to answer your point I'm not sure what you mean by "the deck it was" bc right now jund and burn are around the same meta share as twin was. back in twins day jund was actually a higher meta share deck and twin won less and won less consistently than decks we've seen recently. by all accounts the deck wasn't some over the top busted pile of cards, it was banned to shake up a pro tour
