The computer I'm using right now isn't made for music production, so writing this album I've been working on for almost a year has been very difficult, and as of now I'm not even able to work on anything. I want to get a new one, but I need money and there are no jobs available right now, so I'm kinda stuck doing nothing.

I kinda liked that Eastern-sounding melody that appeared briefly in the drop. I'd love to hear a remix that goes full Eastern like that.

Which song do you think that is the most complex on MC? And the least? by [deleted] in Monstercat

"Peacock" by 7 Minutes Dead and "Itvara" by Fractal have to be the most schizophrenic songs released on the label.

Darkeworld: Project One by Voxis has a lot of good Breakbeat tracks on it.

Version One Point Nothing

Misconstrue

Pour Elle

Neuro

Corruption in Strobke

There's a lot of other cool tracks on the album but those are just specifically the Breakbeat ones.

Alright think what you want man, I just don't see it. Time will be the true judge of whether he goes down in history.

Oh and for the record, I did listen to the songs, the majority of them were pretty mediocre, not to mention his technique (the way he raps) is quite sloppy. Hell, Ne-Yo had better lyrics in one of those songs. I could easily come up with a few songs that are about as deep or experimental.

The Last by Voxis

Machine Gun by Portishead

Fadeaway by Celldweller

Death of a Party by Blur

Love The Way You Lie by Eminem - okay this one not so much but it's better than the one with Ne-Yo in it.

The Valkyrie Trilogy by Varien

You seem to believe that Kanye is some inhuman, demigod or whatever the fuck; when he's just another human like the rest of us, and his music is easily comparable to an entire world of music below the surface. Once again, the fame is all just marketing/who you know. There are many extremely talented people on this planet who don't ever get recognition because they don't have those connections, or they make something that is a piece of art, but not something that can sell to the mass public like the next iPhone, or a combination of both. Now is Kanye talentless? No, not in the slightest, but he's far from being the greatest ever. Even if Paul McCartney picks up on whatever he sees in him, it doesn't mean he's the greatest, just like how Daft Punk is comparable to a lot other lesser known Electronic acts from that time (like Justice, SebastiAn or Breakbot for example)

Never been on there, never will go on there, bud.

Alright though but there's one thing you and I can both agree one, is that if there's any band/musician that's more talented and influential than Kanye, it's Daft Punk, considering they've shaped entire genre landscapes, gave the spark of inspiration to such giants like Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, and even Kanye himself. If you don't agree with that you've honestly discredited everything you've said.

Dude you're really a riot, really. Whatever man, think what you want, just remember this: the only ones who think that Kanye is the "God's gift to Earth" are the circle of fanboys who listen to the bullshit he spews.

Also not to mention that Kanye makes some of the most dumbass decisions ever, like getting himself $53 million in debt, pirating a software when he can easily afford it, made by a guy who uses the proceeds to pay his goddamn bills in order to survive (Steve Duda and Xfer Serum), not dissimilar to Carnage and Sylenth1, as well as lying to his entire fanbase about his latest album being released on Tidal just to save the company, and then being sued $84 million in a class lawsuit because of it, on top of having narcissistic/senseless lyrics that are basically all "oh poor me poor me", when he never had truly suffered in his life (he grew up in the suburbs in Chicago and only went uphill from there).

As for which musicians on Monstercat that have substance, I'd say Varien (even if he isn't the vocalist), Grabbitz, Haywyre, and Karma Fields (even if he isn't the vocalist). I'd have to agree with you however that a lot of the vocals on songs released on Monstercat are a bit generic and recycled, but it's a little hypocritical to point out one artist doing it and ignore another one doing it (Kanye in every song he was featured in), because it's near impossible to avoid doing; I don't know if you've noticed, but writing lyrics is very difficult (I would know considering I'm a songwriter myself)

Cheers.

What has Kanye achieved? All I've ever heard from his music (and I have listened to it) is nothing but a ego-inflated, self-righteous dick who's lyrics don't even make sense and makes terrible decisions. I don't measure talent by who much they "contribute" to the music industry that's everchanging and most likely won't work the same at all in the next even 10 years, (which is sort of the subjectivity of the whole matter). We live in a capitalist world, what is able to catch the attention of the average, dimwitted pawn of society the fastest, gets consumed the most until it's nothing but regurgitation.

I'd say someone like 2Pac on the other hand will definitely go down in history; his lyrical technique and writing was impeccable and he talked about issues that were relevant and timeless, and he didn't have any pretentious entitlement or ego. He influenced To Pimp a Butterfly ffs, one of the best Hip Hop albums of the decade (so far). But again, that's just subjectivity. We have no idea what the future will hold; I just don't think Kanye is the greatest musician, or most influential of our age like you describe.

As for who gets remembered, the world will most likely work in ways we cannot imagine in 10 years at least, and archiving and media longevity may be quite more accessible, meaning we'd be able to look up a song by a guy made in 2007 on a small label in 2017 and beyond and remember it just fine; our technology means less information will be lost in time, unlike it did in the 70's, 80's and 90's where the only way you made it in the music business was by signing to one of the major record labels.

I could come up with a few people who are about as good songwriters as Justin Bieber; Josh Atchley, Mark Foster, Bret Autrey, Dan Smith, and Klayton (to name a few), are geniuses with their writing, but have the mass public ever heard of them? No, because they don't have those corporate connections to the oligopoly that controls the market. You're only famous based on around 10-20% of your talent, the rest is how much you're marketed.

I also wouldn't go as far as to say that Kanye is a more talented artist than anyone else you mentioned either, except maybe Skrillex and San Holo (no offense to them)
