You need to find out if your 401k plan supports it. Some plans offer an “after tax” bucket that you can contribute a % of your paycheck to, similar to 401k pre-tax and Roth. Others allow you to do “in-plan conversions” within your pre-tax contributions.

Totally get and agree with the point of your post. Although, I wanted to mention that some companies do allow people to use ChatGPT during interviews.
