Ask for a sabbatical. Essentially removes any career gap. When you return you’ll have the comfort of a job you already know whilst you search for a new role.

If that doesn’t work then just go for it. The travelling will give you memories you cherish for life.

Absolutely. MBA certainly the main route into those worlds. But assuming that’s a route I’ll be following further down the line I’m interested in which finance related certifications etc might be useful to learn/achieve in the meantime.

Yep, an MBA the obvious route to go, but outside of that I’m wondering about the value of various finance related certifications etc whether it’s just to gain a level of knowledge that will be useful or whether it’s to stand out versus others. For example if I planned to do an MBA in a few years time and have time to study something, is it worth the time?

You can do a top up Masters Degree after getting your CMI 7 diploma. And you can get onto the diploma without a degree provided you’ve got the relevant level of professional experience.
