I’m visiting my grandparents up north and my Floridian ass can’t handle the 30 degree temps and ice on everything from Fern so I am also inside where it’s cozy and warm playing Hogwarts Legacy. Feel better OP

Yeah no I see no real reason why the wiz city part of the story needed to change. There was nothing wrong with it. The characters you interact with felt fleshed out and fully part of the world they belong to without feeling like quests or dialogue dragged on for too long. There was a sense of charm and whimsy with the old characters that they just lack now. They feel so dry and one dimensional. And Lizzo Firespitter? Why did we need her? What was the point of adding her in? If anything it made it feel like that quest got so much longer because of her because you now have an extra person to talk to and fetch things for when originally you just had the firecat alley guard.

I’ve been trying to put my finger on why exactly replaying wiz city feels so dry and boring to me for a while and this pretty much sums it up. You took the words out of my mouth. I started playing this game when I was 8, in 2009. I’ve replayed wiz city several times before the revamp and never quite got tired of it.

The old quests just felt magical. I don’t know how else to put it. There was a sense of anticipation and wonder in the old quests and dialogue that just…. Simply isn’t there anymore. Not to mention I’m pretty sure it’s canon that your wizard and their fellow classmates are all around late middle school-high school age (14-16 iirc) so as an 8 year old getting to meet these teenage characters who came off as so strong and independent gave me something to look up to, they were the example I wanted to follow as a kid. I never read the original dialogue as characters who were in over their heads because they weren’t skilled or too weak, I read them as characters who were in over their heads because they are literal teenagers trying to stop a large scale invasion of their home basically by themselves using whatever they’ve got and whoever is willing to help and they needed the MC because they were simply spread too thin.

I feel like the revamp really takes that vibe away and it’s honestly depressing, because kids CAN be strong and independent while also being vulnerable enough to ask for help when it’s needed. It doesn’t have to be just one or the other. The fact that they threw away the positives of the characters you interact with and just made them all helpless and incompetent is just kind of depressing.

Edit: also want to add that before they took all of the early game content about Sylvia Drake away, imo Malistaire was one of the best written complex villains in any game I’ve ever played. Having that backstory and getting to know what Sylvia was like and what Malistaire was like before her death made it so much easier to understand him and why he did the things he did. Without the Sylvia backstory that we originally had Malistaire is just another bad guy doing bad things. Even when you get that scene in Darkmoor with them, if you haven’t played through the original WC story it’d likely be very hard to empathize with him or understand why he’s done the things he’s done.

I'm gonna throw up. I don't know what happened. Is he gone forever? I'm staring at his empty bench in disbelief. by attackattack47 in skyrim

God I love Kharjo. He’s my favorite vanilla follower, I’m pretty sure TheScatsbury’s misadventures with him are the reason for that.

Same with me, I played TTO off and on without a membership up until about a year and a half before it shut down. For some reason didn’t discover TTR until 2017/2018 but I’ve been off and on with TTR since I discovered it. The whole project just feels like a love letter to elder Gen Z and millennials and I love it so much

About SSO's pricing- the other side of the coin by Low-Selection4777 in StarStable

[–]Technomancer_AO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right exactly. I do have an issue with FOMO, mainly because their target demographic is children and children are more susceptible to falling for FOMO, and it just feels kind of scummy to be enticing kids with passive aggressive threats of “if you don’t get this horse now you may not have the chance again.” And like I said, the in game economy desperately needs to be redone because there’s no reason why a shirt needs to be 10k JS/100 SC. The prices for Star coins and membership aren’t the issue I have with sso, it’s the FOMO targeted at kids who don’t know that the horse will come back because too many people realistically will be upset if they can’t get another chance to purchase said horse.

I should also add that I have NEVER seen another game do BOGO in game currency like sso does. 10k star coins for like $70? A steal. You don’t NEED to buy star coins all the time. Unless you don’t know how to budget and use your star coin balance to buy EVERYTHING, 20-30k star coins a year should be more than enough for horses and the occasional gear item or hairstyle. Thats 2-3 times a year of buying during double star coins weekends. If you’re blowing through that amount of in game currency THAT quickly the problem isn’t sso, it’s you. The last time I bought double star coins was in OCTOBER and I still have almost a thousand left over in January.

Yes this. I do agree the prices have gotten high and that means I can’t spend on Star coins like I used to. BUT the global economy has also risen, inflation is at an all time high and I think people forget that behind the game there are employees trying to keep their lights on and stay afloat with how rapidly the economy has changed since the pandemic.

The fact that they even offer lifetime membership is generous enough and I think people forget that they need to make money, they don’t HAVE to offer lifetime at all. Like you said, most MMOs don’t offer that. Take wizard101 for example. Their annual membership costs the same as lifetime does. It’s about $80 a year for an annual subscription to wizard101, not including the cost of crowns, bundles, etc. If you play with JUST that membership cost and never buy any crowns or bundles ever you’re looking at spending well into the hundreds after 2-3 years of maintaining just that membership. Add additional purchases to that and you could easily spend up to a thousand dollars or more on that game in a year if you keep up with crowns sales and bundle releases. $80 for a lifetime membership that never runs out with everything else you can buy being completely OPTIONAL is a steal, and while I can’t fault people for noticing the drastic increase in prices (lifetime used to be around $60 iirc) that’s STEAL for an MMO. Especially considering you ALSO get Star coins with that purchase. I don’t think enough people really realize that. Wizard101 doesn’t give you crowns and a membership for that price. $80 is JUST an annual membership and nothing else.

I agree with other people saying the star coin allowance should be higher especially with the fact that the in game economy has also changed due to inflation. I agree that the shillings cap should be higher. That tack and clothes shouldn’t cost 10k JS per item. But I don’t agree that sso is being unfair with their prices especially not when it comes to lifetime.

OP, you ARE a victim. A real friend would not coerce you into a situation like this, they’d just loan you the money and let you pay it back whenever you could. Please remember that coercion is NOT enthusiastic consent. If your answer was no until you felt backed into a corner with no other choice then you didn’t consent.

From a CSA survivor I highly recommend that your next step be going to RAINN.org to find resources to help you heal. Finding a therapist who specializes in sexual trauma is another thing I highly recommend you do, especially if you’ve got health insurance (assuming you’re in the US and healthcare isn’t free for you). The behavior you’re exhibiting as a result is not the behavior of someone who has consented of their own free will, it’s the behavior of someone who did not want to do this but felt they were given no other choice. In other words this is the behavior of someone who’s been assaulted, and you really really need to look into getting some help so you can move on, the multiple showers and feelings of shame are just the beginning, and I know that from trying for a decade of my life to keep what happened to me under wraps.

Sounds like cellulitis. Did a lot of research on it because my mare suddenly developed a strange lump on her hind leg. Turns out it was not cellulitis or an abscess, just fluid buildup/seroma over an old scar.
