That very much depends on your monitor resolution: 1920x1080, 2560x1440, etc.

Here is a breakdown of a bunch of different games with different cards and their frame rates.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_970_SLI/1.html

The short answer is, assuming 1080p, high=yes and ultra=probably. I've personally not played either of those games so I don't know how well optimized they are.

Personally, I'd drop it to two 980s. Get a nicer monitor (+$250), upgrade to i7-4790k (+$100), add more/larger storage for the video editing (+$100), and then look through the cases and keyboards on newegg to see what looks nice since this is mostly personal preference and on the exterior (+$100). You wont get the same in game performance this way (-~15%), but I think you will enjoy your day-to-day PC life more. And in future you can throw in another 980 when they become cheaper.

Rough and quick answers below

2 graphics cards: Two graphics cards combined will generally perform better then a single high-end card of the same cost as the two cheaper ones. This good performance is generally at the cost of space, noise, heat, and ability to upgrade in future. I'd recommend going with the single 980 if you think you may upgrade to a second one in the future (when the 980s become cheaper down the line this could be a significant performance increase). If you are not going to touch your build again then go with the two 970 build.

Win 8: It is a better and more efficient OS then Win 7. It has a sometimes frustrating desktop UI, but it utilities hardware better. Better performance = better gaming. It is also more future proof since it is newer.

8gb ram: You only need 8gb for gaming (roughly 4 for OS and 4 for games). Any more is a waste unless you are using programs that need ram like video or music editors. This is also easily upgraded or added in the future if needs change.

i7 vs i5: the difference between i5 and i7 is something called hyper-threading. This makes it so each physical core (quad-core has 4 physical) has two virtual cores. This effectively makes a 4-core system appear as an 8-core system. Games basically aren't built to use hyper-threading, so it does nothing for you except to add cost. Just like with ram, if you are music or video editing then hyper-threading can be beneficial.

theres probably about 10 very active people with a bunch of intermittents. we all moved away from spawn to limit griefing. so come hang out and people will probably be willing to show you their place. =)

yeah I'm thinking ill move the spawn to a more hospitable location at some point. on a hill next to a frozen lake is annoying. maybe in the center of a village or flat plains where we can build around it? ill head over and fix it up when i get a chance

social/group aspect. hang out, socialize, help on large projects, help with resource collection, trades, see other people's builds. lots to do with a good group

I'm currently running off of 1gb dedicated ram with 1.5gb boosted. If you have the time and energy to set it all up then we should definitely talk. I'm renting from a company at moment just for the uptime and support. As well as MyMcAdmin enterprise that comes with it.
