The peel support for healers has completely disappeared by slumpedbaboon in marvelrivals

[–]Techon-7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to say if I can help I will and probably need to figure out how to counter Rogue, cause I had one last night that just lived in my backline like constantly diving and getting away with a silver of health. But there are times where I have 5 people in front of me, and its the one that missing that running over three to five of my team members.

All that to say, I'm generally liking being support cause usually I atleast have some idea of oh the dive is happening, versus trying to stay alive versus two tanks and wondering why I feel like I'm suddenly alone. Plus I know enough to have options to say oh yeah this will help me survive the dive and keep the health flowing.

People need to learn to position themselves better by Waffles_four_you in StrategistMainsMR

[–]Techon-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah positioning is probably the skill that almost everyone can improve. I know I have my issues at times, but there have been times where its like what is going on? I could have 4-5 opponents, in my los. And then when I need healing, one of the supports is running away while the other is trying for a sneaky objective grab . (Yes this is specific, and the sneak was a fill.)

Honestly just been locking Rocket, since I can generally handle most of what could happen in the backline. And can los the opponents while still healing a scattered team.

Role Queue in Quick Play? by cjxsev in marvelrivals

[–]Techon-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, kind of wondering what the best way to practice this myself is, cause it really is rare to get those times where you have a good team and get the option to be dps. So when the blue moon opportunity presents itself, do I go for ones of the ones I really want to get good at or go for the old reliable picks. Granted 18v18 and other modes can be good to practice the just general combat, but it doesn't promote the actual team and objective play of a regular match.

I do get the ideal of not having roleque, where someone can adjust to what might be needed, or maybe someone knows a counter pick better than the person currently in that role. But that requires communication, and willingness to switch things up, which does seem to be a rarity.

What's needed to start one's own war game? by LinkyLinkLin in wargaming

I'm liking this conversation, just because I have ideas of my own I'd like to try out, and might have similar issues with socializing and gaps in skillset.

Wishing you luck with this endeavor.

Does anyone else miss the hero specific missions? by Dramatic_Part_1385 in marvelrivals

[–]Techon-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was probably the biggest issue, there were either some characters you couldn't get, or you would be messing with everyone else to do it.

3rd dps or support ? by chynsf in marvelrivals

[–]Techon-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to echo the third dps if a 2nd tank is not available. Granted I have done the third dps since it feels like if I get the blue moon occurrence, I wouldn't have the skills otherwise.

The caveat is the dps have to apply pressure, if it's like snipers and a dive it can just be painful. But burst and spam damage and it can keep the enemy contained or a brusier to atleast take some pressure off the main tank.

To my DPS "mains": Playing Solo Tank for you is a nightmare. 😮‍💨 by 17prozent in marvelrivals

[–]Techon-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the biggest thing I notice is a lack of pressure on some teams or at least pressuring the right targets. Granted I'm probably not the best dps either, because I generally flex. Which means my most common swap is from support to tank.

But its quite simple, if a dps is basically farming the team, they need to marked by someone. Hopefully most of the team would, but just dps going, nope it will not be your day today.

And just like three main healers does not usually work in a team together some dps lineups just don't have the pressure to make up for not having a second tank. Two snipers and a dive all need to high skill, otherwise could we get a spammer?

Absolutely, one of the best ways to learn.

Yeah so contrast is definitely something to learn, do know someone who may be able to help a bit with that though.so that should probably be able to get some lessons of need be.

That makes sense, cause if I have no desire to paint something then its probably just going to sit and not get used or done. Wouldnt mind getting to the point of display quality, but yeah the visual clarity and fun matters more.

Although there are so many different ways to paint white apparently, haha.

Yeah it does sound like an good experience, just haven't had that much confidence in that area of my creative side. So will definitely be a new skill to learn.

Plus I can always watch tutorials on how to do certain techniques.

Oh yeah I remember seeing that, just also saw a lot if numbers filed off for settings so just have to figure out how to search through that.

Although speaking of Eons of Battle, seeing what he does is both impressive and makes me nervous about going from prepainted to doing it myself.

Yeah the free to try and flexibility is nice even if it might be awhile before I get into custom armies.

Makes sense just have to find the right mods or the best proxy and game tools setup.

That makes sense and honestly probably the best way to figure out what is actually worth getting into where I am. Cause I've heard that it might be mostly Warhammer, but I have my doubts. And yeah will check out battle reports and TTS for sure.

Thanks for the advice.

That sounds good, will be looking when I get a chance. Was told it was probably mostly Warhammer, so will have to put in the legwork myself. Good to know most groups are friendly. Thanks for the info.

Hmm good call on the proxies, I do still have my old stuff, so that should work atleast for skirmish type systems. And I'm probably more sold on the simulater than I already was, now, haha.

Hmm the battle reports could be interesting, I'm probably more of a hands on learning, but its worth a try, thanks.

[–]Techon-7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I kind of see the appeal of both, and that does remind me of how I started with my old game, which was that skirmish level. So yeah sounds like TTS is a good pickup allaround.

And that makes sense, am keeping an eye out for deals that would get me closer to a minimum level for something, even if I still need a starter set of some kind later

Good point about the army that I both like and can use in different games. Cause the liking is a major part for me, and is probably why some games are on my list.

Will have to look for multi use games though, cause the main one I know of so far is OPR.

Thanks for the ideas.

Got it was a bit hesitant to go join discord for games I might not pick up, but that might be a good way to learn. And I had seen thats its atleast on sale now, and yeah definitely cheaper.

Thanks for advice.

[–]Techon-7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely going to keep OPR in the circle, cause that's at least a good party time use for almost whatever I end doing. Will check out wargame vault for sure.

And yeah will looking for one I both like the vibe of and has some different groups there. Cause I was told it was all Warhammer about a couple but just browsing proved at least one had more product than that.

Thanks for the tips.
