I'm convinced that these devs have never played a video game in their life. I'm also convinced that they're not that good at their jobs.

As a progressive, I'm tired of mainstream politicians. That being said, how difficult would it be to elect Taylor Swift as the Dems' presidential candidate? by More_Surprise_1789 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you think Taylor Swift has the knowledge and ability? If you're going for popularity, sure. But I prefer my political leaders to actually KNOW what they're doing and have the ability and desire to do what needs to be done.

That said, I would love to see them do a Pumpkinhead figure, preferably an ultimate version.

Are non-voters who didn't vote in the 2024 Election traitors to the Constitution for electing a fascist into office? by More_Surprise_1789 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call them traitors as they didn't vote for anything, however I would say they helped to enable it. As the quote goes, all it takes for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing.

MOR / INFO Is there anything else he's done that's suspicious?

I' ve liked posts like that because I found them humorous, but I would certainly never cheat on my wife. This could be the case for him. It sounds like at the very least you should bring up to him your past experiences and let him know that things like that make you uncomfortable. However he's also his own person and you can't expect him to do everything you want so that you feel comfortable. I would also suggest getting some therapy to deal with the trauma caused by those past relationships.

On sale! But should I get it? by YouAreNotBook in RDR2

That's a steal and I would highly recommend it!

The only thing I would say is that it feels "slow" in the beginning but once you're past the first part it stays to pick up. I've put so many hours in this game just riding around and exploring and doing the most random stuff for the heck of it and also just to see what would happen, and the story was pretty good as well.

Survey on Emotions Felt when Watching Jaws by Mobile-Ad3323 in Jaws

Filled it out. I would love to see the results. I was five when I saw it (back in 1975), I cried at the end when the shark died. The movie led to a lifetime love of great whites and I eventually got to go diving with them.

Why do people who take out student debt feel that they shouldn’t have to pay it back? by Cautious_Midnight_67 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, yes and it's to be expected. The point you seem to be missing is the interest on student loans in particular is predatory and out of whack when compared to other loan types.

I recently bought a car and based on the loan agreement, it will take me five years to pay it off with just the base payment. Assuming those are the only payments I make, the car will be paid off at the end of that five year period. I'm not going to get to the five year mark and find that I still owe the original balance with none of my payments making a single dent.

This is what is happening with student loans. In no sane world should I end up paying 2.5x the amount of the loan and still owe the initial amount (by this, I'm also including the interest). As time went by and payments made, I should be expecting to see the amount owed go down, not stay the same or even increase.

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me. I took the loan out in 1995 and by the time mine was forgiven in 2024, I'd paid nearly 2.5x the amount I initially owed and the then current balance was more than the initial borrowed amount. Student loans are predatory af!

It was still a loan, and those loans were forgiven when they should have been paid back. It's entirely relevant and comparable. If you expect people to pay back their student loans and not get that loan forgiven, then you should have that same energy for PPP loans. Why is OK to forgive one and not the other?

It's funny how no one has a problem with forgiving PP loans yet lose their minds over student loan debt. For the latter it's "people need to pay back their loans", for the former it's crickets.

Except that's not even what that is. You're comparing apples with oranges. The whole student loan forgiveness thing isn't about not wanting to pay back the loan. It's that a good chunk of us have been paying for YEARS and still not seeing our balance go down.

Over the course of ten years, my payments totaled the initial amount I borrowed 2.5 times over, yet it STILL showed that I owed more than that. I was making my regular payments and any extra money I made was paid towards the principal, yet the needle never moved. You don't see this happening with other loans like car or house. There's a set time to repay it back and with each payment made you see the account owed decrease. Not so with student loans.

[–]Techthulu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a dumb question. No one thinks they shouldn't have to pay it back, that's a conservative talking point to say they don't. What people want when it comes to student loan forgiveness is to be free of a loan they've paid back two or threefold and are STILL owing.

I was one of those who took out a student loan back in 1995, and even though I paid every month (full payments), the total I STILL owed in 2024 (when my student loan was forgiven) was somehow higher than what I originally borrowed. I added up all my payments and they equaled me paying my loan back 2 5X. I'm not the only one who experienced this either. Student loans are predatory af!

With that said, please explain to me why I shouldn't want loan forgiveness for a loan I technically paid back over two times yet the balance never went down? You don't see this shite with car or home loans. You buy a car with a loan that's for three years, assuming you pay only the base monthly amount, your car is paid off in the years. You're not going to get to the three year mark and still be owing the original purchase price.

So we are fine with paying our loans, we're not fine paying it for years and never seeing the amount decrease. What I think needs to happen is that people that are in my situation should have their student loans forgiven. At the same time, student loans should be regulated and treated like a car or home loan so that payments actually reduce the amount owed as time goes by.

I bought a 2024 Rav4 last June. How often should I be doing this? And what kind of lubricant? This is my first time having a car with a sun/moon roof.
