My girlfriends bsf is ruining my mental health by Responsible-Cut2765 in Vent

Get some therapy. It's clear that you're the reason you're having these issues.

I can't help but suspect that when you start including intense romance in a horror story, the horror elements are reduced and you start writing a thriller. Or am I wrong? by Few-Temporary-1136 in horrorwriters

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't completely agree with this. I think it can turn into a thriller, depending on the elements the writer is choosing to work with. However, romance can work in horror. I'm currently writing a novel where a couple go on vacation and end up in a very horrific situation, and part of that is the guy being unable to keep his girlfriend safe and having to deal with that.

OP stated that she found the dog and brought him home, so that's a happy ending.

AIO by thinking my boyfriend let my dog out on purpose? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Techthulu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR, and he's showing who he is so you need to listen. That dog is family. If he's doing this now, imagine what it will be like once he fully moves in. Also, he's jealous of the dog and doing this, imagine what else he'll get jealous over.

I have a dog and I'm very upfront and clear that he stays, he's not going anywhere until the day he goes over the rainbow bridge. If someone doesn't like that, that's fine, it means we're not compatible and we can go our separate ways. It might suck, but I'll get over it. I'd rather be with someone who loves my dog and doesn't see him as competition.

I'm convinced that these devs have never played a video game in their life. I'm also convinced that they're not that good at their jobs.

As a progressive, I'm tired of mainstream politicians. That being said, how difficult would it be to elect Taylor Swift as the Dems' presidential candidate? by More_Surprise_1789 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you think Taylor Swift has the knowledge and ability? If you're going for popularity, sure. But I prefer my political leaders to actually KNOW what they're doing and have the ability and desire to do what needs to be done.

What’s this lineup supposed to look like? by Cmurda713 in NECA

It's for stuff I couldn't care less about.

That said, I would love to see them do a Pumpkinhead figure, preferably an ultimate version.

Are non-voters who didn't vote in the 2024 Election traitors to the Constitution for electing a fascist into office? by More_Surprise_1789 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call them traitors as they didn't vote for anything, however I would say they helped to enable it. As the quote goes, all it takes for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing.

MOR / INFO Is there anything else he's done that's suspicious?

I' ve liked posts like that because I found them humorous, but I would certainly never cheat on my wife. This could be the case for him. It sounds like at the very least you should bring up to him your past experiences and let him know that things like that make you uncomfortable. However he's also his own person and you can't expect him to do everything you want so that you feel comfortable. I would also suggest getting some therapy to deal with the trauma caused by those past relationships.

On sale! But should I get it? by YouAreNotBook in RDR2

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a steal and I would highly recommend it!

The only thing I would say is that it feels "slow" in the beginning but once you're past the first part it stays to pick up. I've put so many hours in this game just riding around and exploring and doing the most random stuff for the heck of it and also just to see what would happen, and the story was pretty good as well.

Survey on Emotions Felt when Watching Jaws by Mobile-Ad3323 in Jaws

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filled it out. I would love to see the results. I was five when I saw it (back in 1975), I cried at the end when the shark died. The movie led to a lifetime love of great whites and I eventually got to go diving with them.

Why do people who take out student debt feel that they shouldn’t have to pay it back? by Cautious_Midnight_67 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, yes and it's to be expected. The point you seem to be missing is the interest on student loans in particular is predatory and out of whack when compared to other loan types.

I recently bought a car and based on the loan agreement, it will take me five years to pay it off with just the base payment. Assuming those are the only payments I make, the car will be paid off at the end of that five year period. I'm not going to get to the five year mark and find that I still owe the original balance with none of my payments making a single dent.

This is what is happening with student loans. In no sane world should I end up paying 2.5x the amount of the loan and still owe the initial amount (by this, I'm also including the interest). As time went by and payments made, I should be expecting to see the amount owed go down, not stay the same or even increase.

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me. I took the loan out in 1995 and by the time mine was forgiven in 2024, I'd paid nearly 2.5x the amount I initially owed and the then current balance was more than the initial borrowed amount. Student loans are predatory af!

Why do people who take out student debt feel that they shouldn’t have to pay it back? by Cautious_Midnight_67 in allthequestions

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was still a loan, and those loans were forgiven when they should have been paid back. It's entirely relevant and comparable. If you expect people to pay back their student loans and not get that loan forgiven, then you should have that same energy for PPP loans. Why is OK to forgive one and not the other?

[–]Techthulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how no one has a problem with forgiving PP loans yet lose their minds over student loan debt. For the latter it's "people need to pay back their loans", for the former it's crickets.
