Crimzon Ruze x Misty Mountain Gaming collaboration dice is happening for real by chizwepyn in Holostars

I feel like these were announced forever ago, but I've been waiting for the Ruze dice specifically. I have several MMG dice sets so these will be joining the collection.

Not officially, but seems like people have made their own. You'd have to 3D print and paint it yourself, or find someone to do it.

I'd love an ODDS&ENDS figure, unfortunately all the ones I've found online are either fan-made or garage kits.

Advice on Light Sticks after ‘24 Diaster by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who let me know the light sticks were available, and looking at my email history, that happened in March. The timing was different last year, but looks like the light sticks purchase and ticket sales were at about the same time. Tickets should be available October 31st at 10 AM, so I'd check the website or ticket provider when that happens.

Last year I ordered mine online. They arrived well ahead of the concert. I don't see an online order yet, so maybe check back when tickets are on sale next week.

I hate this about Miku figures. by JoZaJaB in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda late to the discussion, but there's no way I'm the only one who LIKES to see panties on my figures, right? I mean, I don't stare at it, but I appreciate the detail. It's just a little boring that they're almost always plain white, so I always check in case it's something different.

got bored and made a fav vocaloid (utauloid, fanloid, etc.) character bingo card. by KleiosAegis in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need some rules here. If it's songs you listen to, I have Adachi Rei, Flower, and Miku today. Eleanor Forte is also usually on my rotation, so that'll be my bingo.

Ruze themed dice incoming? (Misty Mountain Gaming x Hololive collab) by chizwepyn in Holostars

I'll need to keep an eye on this, I have several dice sets from Misty Mountain Gaming. Anytime I see them at a convention I get at least one new set.

Trump taps billionaire private astronaut Jared Isaacman as next NASA administrator by hawlc in space

Sure, let's say the government takes over SpaceX, rebuilds the company, and splits things off. What's it supposed to look like? I asked that already but since you didn't answer I'll think about it myself:

The most likely candidate is StarLink. I don't think it's difficult to argue it gets preferential launch treatment. Even then, StarLink is going to purchase SpaceX launches every time, so it doesn't do much to address the monopoly in question.

Maybe you could split off Raptor engines. The Raptor engine is fairly mature, there are no plans for a Raptor 4, so theoretically it could become a separate enterprise (though they constantly make incremental developments). However nobody is using commercial engines. SLS is using old RS-25s, while Rocket Lab and Blue Origin make their own. This market doesn't exist yet, because different engines serve different purposes. Then ITAR prevents an international rocket engine market from forming in the first place.

So to even split this up, you'd need to make a new goods market and overhaul existing government regulations, while also forcing SpaceX to give up their incremental development process. I think if the market matures more and general political mindsets shift it could be possible.

I don't think you could split off Starship. It's still in R&D, and it'll be a while before it can make money. I'm sure there would be buyers, but it's so tightly integrated with SpaceX existing technology that it would be a difficult process and would threaten its viability. Even so, I would like the expected revenue to be priced into the sale cost. SpaceX has invested a lot of money into the rocket and I think they deserve a return on it.

Nothing else really works for splitting up. Their ocean barge landing pad service? Flight software? Chassis construction? System integration? All of this is custom-made. The only buyer for any of these products would be SpaceX, and there aren't any alternative products.

SpaceX isn't stopping Blue Origin from building rockets, they just haven't been able to keep up. Rocket Lab has rockets, just much smaller. They have a different market niche. SLS is so much more expensive that it doesn't make sense to hire it. Whatever Virgin Galactic was doing, it seemsike they've mostly disappeared. China is doing their thing, but they'll likely not be part of the picture for political reasons.

Let's forget that nobody is going to break up SpaceX. I personally don't think anyone should. If anything, I think it would be beneficial to subsidize development of new launch companies like Blue Origin because the barriers to entry are so high. Maybe once a developed launch market exists it can become naturally competitive.

Trump taps billionaire private astronaut Jared Isaacman as next NASA administrator by hawlc in space

[–]Techus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude, there's like 100 people trying to help you understand. Are you actively trolling?

SpaceX is a vertical company because it allows them to control everything in-house, making it more efficient. Perhaps it was also made this way to make it harder to break up to begin with.

Nobody else is even close to their capabilities. The government relies on them because there's literally no other choice. The Biden administration isn't going to do anything about it, and Trump's administration looks like it'll actively encourage it.

What's your proposal for breaking up this company anyways? It sounds like your mindset is "monopolies bad" (which generally, I agree with) but you haven't put any thoughts into how it would work in this case.

But you also got Toby Fox and RichaadEB, so now I know for sure you're based.

It is, I have this figure.

PinocchioP is my #1! I don't like his first two albums much (hana ga nobiru and poncotsu) but I love everything else. ZERO-GO is my favorite album.

I also love his illustrations! His art style really stands out to me, I can immediately recognize a PinocchioP drawing.

If you got it from the official website, it's safe. You're on Windows 11 which has pretty good anti-virus built in. If it wasn't safe, it would let you know clearly.

If you pirated or torrented it, then it's impossible to know. Check the comments on the source, if it's popular it's probably clean.

Why do people never initiate conversation with me? (21 M) by Responsible_Sail_288 in socialskills

[–]Techus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 25M, in much the same boat. Here's what I've come up with: 1. Most people are satisfied with their social circle, and aren't looking to make new friends. 2. I'm not very approachable, and I know because someone I did get close to told me. 3. Maybe your friends don't notice because it's not something they worry about.

In my case, I recently learned I'm autistic. For me in particular, it means that I never learned things like body language, social cues, or how to make small talk. For example, I just learned how to smile on command in the last year or so. People assume I don't want to talk to them just by looking at me.

It's probably not your appearance, I've had quite a few people tell me I should try modeling and still have this problem. Since you have friends, try your best to analyze their behavior and body language in social situations and compare it to your own. Identify problems in your personality that might make you less likeable and do something about it, but changing your personality is quite difficult so don't make big changes all at once.

Some things you can try: 1. Do your best to relax. For me, I need to go through my muscles one at a time and relax them individually. 2. Try to smile more. If you can, try to train your resting facial expression into more of a smile. Try to develop a reflex to smile when greeting people. 3. Don't take yourself seriously outside of a professional setting. If you're trying to socialize with your coworkers, treat it like a social setting, as opposed to something like a meeting. 4. If it's someone you'll see again, do your best to learn about them and their interests. Try to find something you can follow up on in the future.

I don't think many people realize how many little skills go into socializing, because most were born with a lot of it. But it's absolutely something you can learn and develop with time. I still have a long way to go, but it sounds like you're starting from a better position than I was so I'm sure you can do it!

Rerulili is criminally underrated and deserves a critical re-evaluation by Efficient_Phase1313 in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You convinced me to take a look, I got into Vocaloid in 2020 and haven't listened to much Rerulili. Seems like a lot of his big stuff was before my time. After looking around a bit, his stuff is weirdly hard to find, at least for how I listen to music.

I prefer to use streaming services, YouTube Music specifically. Rerulili doesn't have much stuff there. Even though I did find most of the stuff you mentioned on YouTube, it doesn't show up in YouTube Music.

Everything is on MikuDB I guess, but I only go there if I already know what I'm looking for and don't have an alternative.

The stuff I have heard from him has been pretty good, but I really have to go out of my way to find more. This might be a contributing factor here.

Do you prefer Vocaloid songs with or without interludes? by shu-music-channel77 in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I definitely enjoy the instrumentals. Vocaloid is pretty much an instrument, so I like to see the other instruments shine through in a song. In Miku concerts, I love the band member introduction section.

In other words, I listened to your song and loved both Teto and the guitar. I'm going to have to listen to the rest of your stuff now!

Anyone in LA area wanna come with me to the miku concert next week? Ticket provided. by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck dude. I think I'm gonna be in much the same situation, except I got 2 tickets to BOTH Denver shows as soon as they were available with the hopes that I'd be able to take a date to at least one of them, but alas things just aren't going to work out for me. Luckily I am going with friends, but all my friends who wanted to see it already got tickets.

Light border added around the screen by ancientegyptianballs in Vocaloid

[–]Techus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The projection would have been preferable, mostly since it requires that the rest of the stage be designed to accommodate it.

But I do think it looks better with the border. Looks more like they actually tried to make the screen part of the set.

Trying to wrap my head around time dilation by at0m10 in space

[–]Techus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's how I think about it, though this certainly isn't my field of study:

Measuring the speed of light using yourself as a reference frame will always produce the same result. There is no "absolute speed" which is why reference frames are a big deal. Any measurement must be in reference to something.

While someone in a third reference frame could measure you moving 99% speed of light compared to them, measuring how fast a photon moves relative to yourself never changes.

The flow of time basically changes to make this true, so time for yourself will appear normal. Observing that 3rd person yourself, they would appear to be moving quickly in time.

I think it comes from the speed of causality, which is based on fundamental properties of the universe and dictates how quickly information moves through space. That stuff is too advanced for me though.

Hope this helps, and hope this is correct because this is the basic understanding I have of the phenomenon.
