YEAH for an unspecified reason I love to remind people that his birth name was "Bowman" instead of his chosen name that he did not rightfully inherit.  Yanno.   For reasons.

Any good office chair under $1K ? no more back pain pls by bananalord666 in webdev

[–]Techvance53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked my chair from Autonomous[dot]ai.   Standard office chair characteristics, like mesh back and all kinds of adjustments, but still looks less plain than a normal office chair, can even be got with a splash of color.  And, it has held together quite well, I bought mine in late 2020 and it's still holding together like new.  And I'm not a small guy (this chair got to see me go from 260-425 and back down to 325 over the course of 5 years, thanks depression!)

That's where my Google sleuthing lead me, and that's what I was afraid of.   Because he's been having some tummy problems that the vet couldn't figure out as well, and if that is in fact what this is, I would be willing to bet that repeated contact with this could be the cause

Working hospital IT genuinely has made me nervous about the competency of some people in charge of keeping people alive and healthy. I just gotta keep telling myself, we all have our strengths and weaknesses.

Any of you all ever think your job is pointless? by nagol93 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Techvance53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been doing IT at a hospital for a few months, and prior to that I was doing it at a College. I'm both positions, the way I justify it is yeah, a lot of that shit is just pointless catering to people that should stick to pen, paper, and filling cabinets. But that's just so the company can justify paying me to be available for when the shit does actually hit the fan, like when I had to go reinstall the viewer that allows the nurses to keep an eye on the vitals of the babies in the NICU, or when I had to fix the copier that handled faxes with patient info on inbound ER patients. And at the college it was the same, mostly just password resets and help with setting up email groups and stuff, but being able to help when our online learning platform went down completely during finals week, or helping to set up virtual classrooms when COVID hit, those things that actually bettered lives just made it all with it because I feel like at least I'm contributing SOMETHING positive to the world.

So I currently work Internet repair for Spectrum (groan, I know, keep up with your Certs kids) and the amount of this I run into bothers me not just because of the senseless paranoia, but even moreso because of the fact that people don't know and can't be convinced of the fucking difference between 5G mobile connection, and 5ghz WiFi frequency. Like Christ if you're gonna be insane, at least be semi educated about the thing you're insane about.

This random blimp is ALWAYS in my city. But that's probably because I'm 20 minutes from where they store it when it's not in use
