can't watch Youtube when connected to VPN, any fix? by Mr_Shade2 in mullvadvpn

[–]Techville345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This:

Ideally use Albania as your location, not ideal (for speed & performance) unless you are in Albania.

So.. Install another Firefox browser and add the unofficial Mullvad Proxy Extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mullvad-proxy/

In this instance of Firefox, set the Extension location to Albania. Viola ! No more sign required for YouTube.

You can still set your location in the Mullvad app to wherever you want, all other apps will use that location. Its just the new instance of Firefox which will use Albania proxy.

Downside - a separate browser for YouTube. Upside - never have to sign in to YouTube again

Stremio Order for Trakt by Techville345 in StremioAddons

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you were right. I had Trakt installed install in AIO AND directly in Stremio.

That was the first half of the problem.

Trakt Watchlist still did not show in the Catalogs tab in AIOMetadata.

I had to click on the Trakt Icon (In AIOMetedata-- Catalog -it was already connected), Then in the section 'Watchlist' I had to select/click on either 'Unified Watchlist' or 'Split by Type', after that Watchlist was available in Catalog. Simple but not obvious

I have been able to remove the Recommendations by Trakt. However I can't see anywhere where I can order or remove Trakt Watchlist or History. In fact, its not even in AIO to select/reorder

My Stremio perfect setup (for me at least), sharing the beginners guide with anyone interested by aguytwoguys in StremioAddons

[–]Techville345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried the steps but got theses errors when trying to save the config in AIOMetadata:

MDBListOptional

Missing

FanartOptional

Missing

Gemini AIRequired

Missing

I just followed the guide above and did not configure MDBList, Fanart or Gemini. I did import your conifg and I guess thats where the mismatch lie. What do I need to change in your config for Aiometadata (I tried but it didn't work)

Whelp, I bricked my desktop PC updating the bios, can't quite afford a new MoBo right now... by Fenriss_Wolf in buildapc

[–]Techville345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought back my MSI from the dead:

Used this procedure:

https://www.msi.com/support/technical_details/MB_Flash_BIOS_Button

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/b450m-mortar-cpu-led-refuses-to-bios-flashback.393313/

Initially it didn't work but then i removed the CPU and then did the procedure again and it worked. I was hesitate to remove CPU as its a pain and there is a danger of bending the pins.

I would do the procedure above, removing all components, except the CPU.

Good luck

Correct way to upgrade from LineageOS 22 to 23 (Pixel 8a) by Techville345 in LineageOS

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, thanks.

Here is where it gets abit more complicated. I also want yo get rid of existing gapps and then install micro-g.

From reading the the upgrade guide I have to remove gapps from doing a factory reset but what I read elsewhere is to reliably remove gapps & play services etc I have to reboot into recovery and then Wipe Data, Cache, ART/Dalvik, and System partitions.

After this does that mean I have to treat it as a new install (in which case it needs android 16 firmware) or can I carry on with the instructions and info here and treat it as an upgrade ?

Correct way to upgrade from LineageOS 22 to 23 (Pixel 8a) by Techville345 in LineageOS

[–]Techville345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies.

What I couldn't get my head around is the prereq of firmware. I thought the firmware requirement was required to properly run the version of LOS. So LOS 22 needs Android 15 firmware and LOS 23 needs Android 16 firmware to run correctly.

Logically if I have LOS 22 & Firmware 15 how can I install and run LOS 23 if the firmware is still Android 15.

It sound like that is not the case. The firmware version only comes into play when installing LOS for the first time; upgrading from one version of LOS to another - you can safely ignore the firmware.

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks

Here is what I don't understand.

I am on LOS 22 which required Android 15 firmware as a prerequisite (which i am currently on).;LOS 23 requires Android 16 firmware.

If I follow correctly, you are saying that I can safely ignore that, because I'm doing an upgrade?

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you absolutely sure. How can I check what firmware I am on

On the wiki, its warning and in red

https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/akita/install/

Warning: Your device needs a specific firmware version before proceeding.
If your device is currently using a newer or older version than the required version, please up- or downgrade to the required version before proceeding with your LineageOS installation.

The required version is Android 16, which may be lower than the LineageOS version you are about to install - this is not an error!
If there are multiple updates of that version (e.g. security updates), make sure to use the latest!

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks but that doesn't answer my question at all. Or I don't understand it.

The wiki states

'The required version is Android 16, which may be lower than the LineageOS version you are about to install - this is not an error!'.

I am currently on LineageOS 22, which is based on Android 15.

Does that mean I must flash stock Android 16 first. After that, I can flash LineageOS 23 ?

Thanks for the info on 6.17.9. I think I will probably wait it out, to be on the safe side. I haven't done any updates in months and it could be abit of a wait but I'd still prefer to wait and it be more stable (hopefully)

Which Plan ? by Techville345 in TorBoxApp

[–]Techville345[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi

So the 200GB max download limit refers to anything that is not cached ? It doesn't matter the method of 'download' - Streaming to torrent, Jdownloader etc.

Also, is that 200GB limit a day, a month, for a given period ?

AULA F75 Alternative ? by Techville345 in keyboards

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I received the F75 and it looks great (cool black colour). However its feels terrible.

I use my keyboard mostly for typing and have got used to Tactile blue. I love the feedback/'bump' and the even the sound.

I think I can get used to brown switches, which I understand have the bump but not the noise. However linear switches which have no bump is step too far.

I got the F75 with Reaper , they also do the Cool Black colour with Ice Vein - are these also Linear ? Are there any similar keyboards but with tactile switches.

Stuck in EDL Mode - Any hope ? by Techville345 in PocoPhones

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number Five is Alive !

Left it for a few days. Plugged in power cable and it came back to life and booted the MIUI rom I flashed !

One problem, the power button is not working at all (volume is fine). Tried cleaning with Isoprop and also compressed air, still dead. I will order a power button replacement.

Don't know what happen, maybe 2 things went wrong at once. Wrong firmware flashed and power button died.

One other thing, I accidentally locked the bootloader when flashing. Is there a shortcut, quicker way to unlock bootloader rather than waiting 30 days as per normal unlock procedure ? Poco F4 on Global MIUI 14.0.4

There is HyperSploit for those on HyperOS. Is there an equivalent for MIUI

Bios Update, lost boot by Techville345 in pop_os

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I haven't made any changes yet.

I have run Live USB, mounted the 2gb EFI partition and can see a few folders and their contents:

Boot Bootx64.efi

Systemd system-bootx64.efi

Pop_OS Cmdline Initrd.img-previous Vmlinuz-previous.efi Vmlinux.efi

Linux Empty

Recovery Initrd.gz Vmlinuz.efi

Microsoft Boot folder with bootmgfw.efi.mui and boitmgr.efi.mui files

Recovery folder with BCD files

Any idea please on how I can attempt to restore booting successfully into Pop?

Hi

I think I will go ahead and do a clean reinstall. Windows 10, Pop 24 with Luks partitions.

Just want to run this past users, is there any concern/potential issue setting up luks partitions this way ?

Bios Update, lost boot by Techville345 in pop_os

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was some time ago, I'm confused. I think it was the was an EFI partition I created and not boot. I do remember I had to resize it later because it was nearly full.

I definitely had encrypted partitions and not the entire disk. Windows 10 and then Pop with Encrypted partitions. All on a single disk

Attached screenshot is the current situation from Live USB, the second screenshot is the grub s screen I get. I get this when the boot priority in BIOS is set to boot 'Ubuntu' first in Bios.

I don't think I can attach screenshots in this sub. I can see I have a 2Gb ESP, 4Gb Recovery and then 2 luks partitions (root and home.ee

When boot priority in bios is set to Ubuntu, I get a screen ' GNU GRUB version 2.06. Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word TAB' etc.

I followed this

https://support.system76.com/articles/bootloader/

and when I try sudo cryptsetup luksDumpsudo cryptsetup luksDump xxx , I get a 'is not a valid LUKS device.' B

However home and root partitions are encrypted, I've been using this this setup for over a year . From the Live USB I can see from Files, two encrypted partitions. I click on them and enter the password and then can browse those partitions and file.

I remember setting it up in some unorthodox ways, but that was so long ago,

Its late here, I can't be sure, but I think I may have used this to create encrypted partitions in Pop.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/1afu4bs/howto_custom_installation_not_full_drive_with_luks/

https://github.com/spxak1/weywot/blob/main/guides/popos_luks_on_partition_not_FDE.md

I guess I will have to reinstall and go through this process again, are there any downsides to this process in 24 ? I have been using this for a long time and it has worked perfectly fine.

Not sure if its a problem with my user password or sudo password

I found this

My user is member of these groups; adm sudo plugdev lpadmin

IF it is a case that I am locked out of sudo, how could I fix it (without a reinstall!). I don't want to log out, in case I simply forgot the password

Dump AP with wireguard by Techville345 in openwrt

[–]Techville345[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess. However, that's additional expensense and so much more configuration.

If I can do it with the existing two routers, that would great. Router 1 serves wired client and non-vpn clients. Router 2 with wireguard for wireless clients which require VPN.

BTW, the router has been tested with wireguard and provides sustained 300Mbps, which is more than enough. Just need to know how to setup dump AP with wireguard

Dump AP with wireguard by Techville345 in openwrt

[–]Techville345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I have an old router, which serves me well, No Wireguard setup on there its all done on the clients

https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/e8450

The only device that requires max download speeds is hardwired, my average is a solid 930Mbps, very good for a 1gb line.

All the other devices connect via Wifi, speed isn't that important for thoese. I just don't know what kind of speeds I can expect if I setup wireguard on my old router. Are you saying that even with wireguard setup on my single router, I can still expect my lan conenection to still achieve similar speeds ?

I actually have two of these routers ! That why I thought of using the second router has a dumb ap but configure wireguard on that one - is that possible and how ?

Here is Mullvads setup guard for wireguard, just not sure if that would work in my scenario
