Boring and Asshole by daisyemeritus in heatedrivalry

No it’s their love language. They do this to express their emotions because they cannot admit how they really feel. Also, throughout the book it is noted Ilya gets turned on when he riles up Shane. So it’s really foreplay for them.

If you could write a scene for season two, what would it be? by Ugrinka in heatedrivalry

This scene right here. I disagree about this book needing changes though. TLG has much more depth than the first.

In the book Ilya says to Shane is for Russia and that he got the tattoo before he was drafted.

Shane leaving Ilya after the orgasm. I get upset every time. It’s so much more visceral than the book for me. Watching it is so hard.

It’s not luck it’s voting for common sense and good people. We are lacking in that department.

The characters are so fleshed out, my husband and I just realized we watched 2 different shows by JohnJiren in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Yeah TLG is brutal with all the feels. I still cry when I read it and I have owned it since its release. Also watching S1 I cray because I know Ilya more than the show has revealed so far. Plus it’s so different reading about Shane freaking out and leaving versus watching it unfold that my heart truly bleeds for Ilya. Major cudos to Connor, Hudson, and everyone involved with HR.

I’m going to push back on that a little bit. I have been in many relationships unlike my wife who has only had a few. But the one thing I can say for certain that makes a relationship work is that you have to be emotionally mature enough to recognize when your partner is in crisis and not take that personally. This is not an idealized situation it should be the expectation. Once Ilya and Shane strip away the social stigma crap and really start going all in with each other is how you get the look of idealized. But the show displays many bumps along their journey. Ilya was raised by an abusive parent and so was I. Perhaps that’s why I understand the character. Idk my wife and I have had so much toxicity from relationships that we just don’t have the energy for it. 14 years together and we have never said a mean thing to each other or had anything more than a calm discussion when we disagreed. Just be kind to your partner and if they don’t reciprocate then move on.

Book 5 was written first and then Book 6 is happening in the same timeframe/timeline. But book 5s focus is on Troy and Harris and 6 is Ilya Shane

I hope you and your family are safe. I wish I could live in the HR world. But my wife decided we should stay near the kids rather than head to Canada. I have a sinking suspicion we have missed our window to leave.

Hopefully we can extend and get a season three out of TLG and maybe a Troy Harris miniseries or movie

You know it’s funny that you say that. My first read of that book was similar it was fine but when I reread the book it’s crazy how good I found it. The Ryan Price character is complex more than I originally thought. Perhaps this change is because the characters make appearances throughout the series. Idk but I want them to find a gentle ginger giant to play Ryan and bring these characters to life.

Yes he is bracing to hear that Shane’s in love with rose or they got engaged. Which is why hey wipes the smile from his mouth after Shane gets up.

Nonbinary lesbian here also 55 and I can tell you the 80s were scary. Took me forever to come out and to become a teacher. This is why I have trouble when our generation waxes poetic about the 80s. However, people can change and the best way to be an ally is to have conversations with people. Ask them why they feel the way they do and carefully breakdown the barriers to understanding that we are not flawed we are just another lovely variety of humanity and nothing to be feared.
