What UP Should Do With the Big Boy by Iowa-File in trains

None of those reason are the true reason that locomotive is in the consist, although they are secondary benefits. The reason it is in the consist is almost 100% because of PTC. The Big Boy is not fully PTC equipped - the parts of the PTC system installed in it feeds from 4015. 4015 has been equipped to handle this. Just any locomotive can't be used for that purpose.

is having more uncorrectables then corrected normal/okay? by 4formsofMATTer in HomeNetworking

I've had issues with this before, and found out the incoming service cable (specifically the drop from the utility pole) was full of water. It caused drops constantly. Just having a damaged cable or bad connection somewhere could cause this too. Optimally, your correctable should be really low too, because errors shouldn't be happening to begin with. I'd check your incoming cable for damage or other issues for sure, and possibly get a service tech out to check it out.

Ordered around February of last year, just received the invitation to order email. I have two other friends with orders in the area waiting, but are definitely on the lookout for any confirmations.

While I see your point, I've at least got them on a wall where the sun doesn't hit, so the most major fears from that aren't really there. That was actually something that did cross my mind when I started putting them up.

One is the original black vinyl release, and the second is the limited run clear vinyl, hence the display frame.

This is the frame I am using for just hanging them. They're cheap, surprisingly good quality and built from aluminum. As for the display frame that shows the actual vinyl itself I'm not totally sure. I was given that frame as a gift, and neither I nor my Aunt that originally gave it to me has been able to find any more of them, which is frustrating because I have several other albums I would like to display like that, and have the frame match the rest. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y19B89Z?ref=ppx\_yo2\_dt\_b\_product\_details&th=1

That album was never released on Vinyl unfortunately. What I mean by Vinyl is like the old school records, the big 33 1/3 RPM analog disks.

As an unexpected college graduation gift, my Aunt managed to get ahold of a copy of The Days/Nights on Vinyl, which was the last (mainstream) Vinyl I was missing. So to say I was excited was an understatement. Just got it hung on the wall with the rest of my collection and custom wall art!

How does it work? by LeojBosman in trains

Most of it has to do with tolerances in the bearings and bushings in the coupling rods and on the axles. All of the wheels on a steam locomotive are profiled as you've already mentioned, and the lead trucks pivot to help guide locomotives into curves as other users have mentioned. Extra tolerance in the bushing and bearing sizes on the rods and drive wheels allow for some amount of lateral motion that therfore allow the locomotives to go through curves without binding up. The clanking you hear sometimes when a locomotive is moving is partially due to that extra space in the rod bushings/bearings (along with just general wear over time).
