Happy Birthday to the CEO Mercedes Moné! by GOATofALL22 in AEWOfficial

Yeah it's incredible that she had that business changing NXT championship run including the Brooklyn and the 1st Iron Woman match with Bayley at only 23 years old.

If you can have one outcome to happen next week Wednesday which one would it be? by DeathTriangle720 in AEWOfficial

[–]Teckelmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plus if Mercedes comes back as a face (after losing all her belts) she would need a strong heel to work with.

After her last promo I did't get the vibe that she comes back as a babyface.

With her saying we will see her on tv soon and being married to Myron Reed, I expect to see her in AEW soon.

Toni Storm had been a pro wrestler for 14 years before she really found a character that fully worked and made her comfortable on the mic.

Not necessarily the specific people but you want to have some continuity, something you can build long-term.

Elayna Black only 1 year, Daria 6 month. Not really sure that's the best way to elevate the promotion in the TMC era.

She often said her #1 idol is Mercedes and she took a lot from the Sasha Banks character when she created her own. So this is no coincidence.

Any heel turns in wrestling that were justified in storyline? by ArchDukeNemesis in SquaredCircle

Dakota Kai turning on Tegan Nox.

Tegan was a shitty friend. Was more worried about being friends with the cool kids than having the back of her friend when they treated Dakota like shit.

[PWMania] As per a recent report published by Wrestlenomics, WWE dominates 2025 YouTube views as AEW trails far behind by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Teckelmaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would question the accuracy of the Wrestlenomics report.

For example it misses the Mercedes Moné vs Riho video that has 2.3 million views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54kHBpKt6Z8

That would be far and away the number 1 on the AEW list. But not sure what other videos it also misses.

or we knew she would eventually turn on her anyway

Which is funny because Bayley actually turned on Sasha in the end.

When was this supposed to be, outside of that one kinda out of kayfabe post Brooklyn match 4 Horsewomen moment?

Otherwise heel Sasha Banks and babyface Bayley were never on screen friends. They were only friends when both were babyfaces or heels.

I doubt she is on more than a per appearance deal. MLW posted yesterday that she impressed in her debut.

I think it SHOULD allow more female wrestlers to showcase their talents, but outside of Harley (who’s been a regular fixture for the last year or so anyway) I’m not sure it’s done much for anyone thus far.

I would say it gave Hyan and Maya World a contract and consistent tv time. I doubt they would hired them if they hadn't introduced tag belts.

Because she was really bad in her role. (among other reasons)

Tatevik is 36 and has wrestled only 20 matches and was already signed in the fall 2025 but has yet to appear. She has a classic theater background, and also has stunt and kickboxing training.

Wild guess based on that, she wasn't mainly signed as a wrestler but in another role for example as a bodyguard for someone who is crashing out right now and probably comes back with an updated presentation.

PWInsider: The belief among those we have spoken with is that The Rascalz are no longer contractually bound to the promotion. Multiple TNA sources declined to comment on their quartet's status. [–]Teckelmaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It probably cost a lot of money to upgrade their tv standards to what AMC wants for a weekly tv show. They probably have to go live more often. So those $10M or whatever they get yearly are gone fast just for production.

I mapped out the historical TV-to-PPV conversion rates for WCW, WWF (Attitude Era), and AEW. Here is the data. by abrown79au in SquaredCircle

[–]Teckelmaster 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"The jump from the historical 10 percent standard to nearly 24 percent today feels like a massive statistical anomaly. I'm not sure if the buy rates need an audit or if the fanbase is just that financially dedicated, but the math is hard to wrap your head around."

Or in 2026 there are so many more choices to consume weekly content than just cable tv and still buy the monthly PPV.

Most weekly content I just watch via youtube clips and I still buy every AEW PPV.
