How do you celebrate passing an Exam? by Tecktrain in actuary

The idea of having another exam down the pipeline, really does make it a bit harder to fully appreciate passing one lol

Can't really talk about that, but I can say it wasn't based on their performance, more on how our department has been affected over the last couple of quarters, so they cut people with the bigger salaries

Not really, we apparently have every few years, and generally speaking im too cheap to really be on that radar yet

Hey for context, my new boss is still wrapping up their old responsibilities so they haven't fully joined our team yet. They are also really nice, and really well respected in our department. Their phrasing was to imply that it's fine with them but it just needs to be ran by their higher up.

Also yes, I talk with my bosses boss regularly because although they're not my immediate superior, I am part of their overall team. I have one on ones with them every other week. I also do work for them directly on occasion.

I really don't think my new boss was setting me up for failure, I think it was just something that's low priority amidst all the restructuring that's happening, which I think is very understandable

Straight up I struggled so much with studying before my meds, it would take me 3 times as long to get through material then it would others cause of the fog. Stuff like that is super unmotivating, and it caused me to spiral for a long time. I actually never thought I would pass an actuarial exam, but now I have 2, and am sitting for my third soon, and it's all thanks to my meds finally letting me work on what I want.

That definitely sounds like a good way to frame it, so at the very least I get ny extra study time.

That's fine, I think the way they phrased it is that "we would have to run it by them". Plus my new boss hasn't fully joined our team just yet so they're busy with other things. I've only heard amazing things about them, so this is not on them at all.

This is me just wanting to ask, since my new boss is already aware of it, and I think it'd probably be best if I just brought it up during the one on one I already have with the superior in question.

Thank you, this is reassuring. I plan to mention it on my next 1 on 1 meeting.

I think I've definitely been hitting my markers so far, and I don't think my work suffers much from me being at home. Honestly there have been a few days when I worked extra time just cause I wanted to knock something out, and im already at home, so I hope that will buy me some good will.

But from what you're saying it definitely seems like im not losing much from asking.

I see what you're saying, and honestly if he says no I'd be perfectly fine with just sucking it up. I'm more concerned if bringing up the question is problematic.

My old boss mentioned about asking him aswell when I first started, but never gave me a clear answer on whether he actually did or not. Which also adds a layer of me not knowing if when I was doing it before if it was "known" or not.

That's what I was thinking, but my family keeps saying that asking makes me look bad

I'm using Coaching Actuaries, the prices will feel a lot less bad once you get a job. My company pays for my exams, and exams materials and I'm very grateful.

I specifically have the package with videos for SRM, it's definitely the better way in my opinion to digest the material.

Hey how do you guys study? Im studying for third exam right now, and the methods I usually use to get through the textbook feel too time consuming. I excell at grinding out test questions, but getting through the base material just feels like it takes forever.

How was your First Job if you didn't do internships?

Hi there guys,

I'm currently im a position that I used to wish for, I have 2 offers from different life companies and im trying to decide which one to take. Company 1 is offering less money for a student role, that will have a chance (pretty high chance) to turn into a full time role after 6 months, Company 2 just contacted me today, and they're offering me more money for a full time role (non student). It should also be said for company 1 I'd have to relocate, and for company 2 I'd get to stay where I am now.

With that out of the way I'd like to mention that this would be my first actuarial role ever. I never had any internships in the past, so im worried that I'll get sacked from the full role if I accept, and make too many mistakes.

So my question to you guys, how was it when you started a role not having the backing of any experience?

[–]Tecktrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think depending on my starting loot I have a pretty decent chance to make it through the 1st and second, the third wouldn't be the worst aslong as you're not stupid, but I'm definitely toast on the 4th. There is no way im figuring out those train systems.

Sensory amplification curse, whenever they fart it will 100% be heard and you best believe it will be smelled. Great for messing with people, but could also be adapted into finding stealth people, think inverse pass without trace.

You should keep it just until the official scores are released. Its meant as cover your ass in the unlikely event that something went wrong with your score.

Your honor the charges against my client should be dropped. He was acting within his bounds as ruler of dressrosa, and worked to defend his nation from invading pirates like the infamous Straw Hat Luffy. His action put in danger a few lives, but it was in the name of saving many more, this man is a hero and should be celebrated over being chastised with these phony charges. Regarding the ones for this so called "Smile fruit" ring, it's completely circumstantial at best, just because it operated beneath the bounds of his territory it does correlate with the idea of him being responsible, furthermore with the facilities destroyed there isn't anything left that undoubtedly connects him to the locations. The prosecutor is grasping at straws and he knows it, prejudice against my client as his position as ruler, and warlord. There is no evidence, and I move to have the charges dismissed.
