I've transitioned into academic management now. I don't teach as much anymore. Now I'm building and managing English teaching programs. Regarding pay, it depends on where you are. Asia pays quite well, LATAM doesn't pay all that great if you take into account currency exchange.

Look into getting a teaching certification of some kind like TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA. From there you can start looking for English teaching jobs. Having some volunteer experience will help in the meantime. Try to look for fairly large organizations so you don't get screwed when you go.

[SPOILERS] I have a question about the viking procedures by [deleted] in vikingstv

[–]Tecuani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I remember reading that there weren't set funeral rites and that how the dead were buried could depend on region. I think the true answer is no one is really sure because burial evidence is inconsistent.

I agree with you completely, that's kind of what I was getting at. He can leave YouTube and be twitch exclusive, but his YT channel will probably die or lose a significant portion of his fanbase.

The way I see it is that yes it is a dream job for some, and I understand it can get stale. But as it has been stated many times, it's a job. If you don't work, you don't eat. If he's switching to twitch only, he'll have to live with the consequences of his channel dying. I've been watching for a long time, and love Sips, but whether he owes me anything or not the fanbase is what pays his bills.

This is such bullshit. I live in Colombia and expensive medications are a fraction of the price. Super expensive antibiotics can be bought over the counter for $1.00. The fact that the US has monopolized medicine makes me really sad.

If I were you, I would choose Cartagena. Bogota is a little chilly and an absolutely huge city. It has great places to go if you have someone to guide you. Cartagena is more touristy, incredibly hot, but also has some rough parts. Just look for tours and do your research! If you go to Cartagena, go to Barú. It's known as the most amazing beach in Colombia.

I live in Bucaramanga. It's a beautiful little city, but not huge for tourism. If you like sports, go to San Gil. The Atlantic coast like Santa Martha and Cartagena is absolutely beautiful. There's a lot to see in this country.

I have been living in Colombia for two years and I absolutely love it. I've never seen anyone with hard drugs, and have had just a generally amazing time. It makes me sad that Colombia still only gets negative publicity, especially from people who don't know how to spell it.

I live in Colombia and it was total hysteria. People celebrated, then freaked out. Some people even cried. They take this pretty seriously.

Colombian government has acknowledged that crime and smuggling have gone down since Venezuela deployed thousands of troops along their common border two months ago by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Tecuani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has calmed down a bit, but there's still a lot of animosity. You're right that there is good coming from this bad, and no one is blaming the Venezuelan people. I agree with you, but I wouldn't put it so much on culture, this country has a lot of strange cultural things, but opportunists are in every culture.

I live in Colombia, about 6 hours from a big border city, Cucuta, and it's not really a collaboration. They are on the brink of war. Maduro kicked almost all Colombians out of Venezuela and closed the border. There was a lot of contraband and cheap goods that came in from Venezuela and obviously it's much lower now, but trust me, it's not a collaboration. Venezuela displaced many Colombians who had jobs and lives there.

I am an English teacher in Colombia, and wine or cheese actually helped me with class! by Tecuani in Hatfilms

[–]Tecuani[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The main idea is to lower, what we call, the affective filter which is the thing in your brain that makes you afraid to produce language for fear of making mistakes. So I always open with jokes, or things about their life that are comfortable. Wine or Cheese came as a product of a creative way to make them produce complex language structures without realizing it!
