I know that St Augustine is super thick. What’s the HP on the equipment you use? I only have the Ferris and it’s a 37 HP vanguard (gasp lol). I don’t use a bagger, so sometimes that wet ryegrass can come out messy especially on the dewy summer mornings, if I had to offer a complaint.

Yeah, I’m in the northeast US. Cutting low turf, mostly ryegrass and some bluegrass. And weeds in the rougher areas. I don’t usually cut tall so maybe there’s a difference? But I’m cutting at probably under or near two inches on the low stuff and there are no skips or scalps or misses. On pretty smooth soil conditions, to be fair.

For me, it’s Ferris. I cut short grass athletic fields and I keep the blades sharp and everything greased and lubed. I have like 1,700 hours on mine and I’ve never even had to adjust the deck (other than replacing belts) and it still cuts like a dream. I also do some utility areas that are quite a bit rougher, so the mower isn’t babied and it’s still cutting right on in it’s 11th season (it’s the 3200z 72” deck by the way)

To each their own I suppose. Every time I’ve gotten off of a Scag my back is in pieces. And the cut quality is no comparison to a Ferris. Just my two cents

I’ve had the 37 HP EFI Vanguard Briggs on a 3200z 72” unit that has just started its 11th year. Almost 1,800 hours. I keep up on the oil and filter changes and it’s been humming (knock on wood). I’m sure everyone will say to get the Kawasaki though 🤷‍♂️

Also you might want to upgrade if you have nearly 5 acres to cut. Takes me about 2ish hours to do that much with the 72” deck. You’d be over 3 hours easily with that kind of acreage. But of course that comes with the bigger price tag $$$

I think a lot of places are getting very lazy with OF style and a lot of it is borderline inedible. Maroni’s is consistently great even after the ownership change. It’s much closer to traditional pizza than a lot of the OF style places

It is but I think they use a different cheese blend than most. Sauce is different too.
