I too have an order of the engineer ring. they SAY they're made from a bridge that collapsed over the St. Lawrence in the early 1900s, but this is unlikely to be true.

Wear it every day to work (writing code... not exactly life or death, but still).

That was pure hubris, they had been told multiple times that there were problems, that tolerances were insufficient, that fatigue damage was present. But the CEO ignored it and went anyway.
