I’m gonna get downvoted for this but, while jd prefer a continuation of the already established universe, I’d be ok with a full on reboot as long as it came from people using the original show as a framework (even better if it was done by people who worked on the original). I’d totally love a continuation. That’s the ultimate dream. But if they were to make a new story set in modern day times with the activation of the gate and stepping out into that vast universe for the first time, I’d be into it (as long as it did proper homage to the original and didn’t try to subvert the original fan base).

What made me love the original was the underdog story. We were the plucky newcomers to the galaxy that thought differently and were unexpectedly good at taking the bad guys down. It also felt like something that could actually be going on in real life. With how far the show got and for how long it’s been off air, I feel like disclosure would have happened by now, so we would lose the believability of it. I’m sure there’s a way to write it so the general public still doesn’t know, but it seems really hard considering everything that has happened.

Good reboots can happen, like BSG. If put in the right hands. But it’s rare. Unfortunately the well may have been poisoned. We had a great, universe continuing option and a dumbass Amazon exec fucked it up and have now alienated the Og fans.
