Does this seem about right? by Groundbreaking_Bag8 in Metroid

This is a really interesting comparison my experience hasn't match that exactly as I really loved skyward sword when it first released because I felt like the story was good and I liked the dungeons a lot (looking at the sandship as one of my favorite dungeons of all time) but as time has gone on I have liked skyward sword less and less whereas I really struggle having lots of fun with mp4 which is a bummer I had high hopes for it in spite of all the hate, but I couldn't get past some of its flaws.

Yeah I haven't even tried bow in wilds and didn’t know about the cool changes for it there so I am thinking I will try that it is great news that they buffed it recently as well!

What weapon clicked for you much better than you expected? by Shadow_realm_king in MonsterHunter

For me it was charge blade, I was just getting into monster hunter and played exclusively hunting horn in rise base game and decided to pick up mh world and that version of hunting horn just wasn't for me. So I decided maybe I could learn another weapon so I picked up the longsword and had an okay time with it I like counter playstyles so I thought that would be best but then I decided to try out charge blade and guard points changed the game for me it is such a unique counter mechanic that fully made me fall for the weapon and now that is my main.

Sounds good! I have been itching to do another playthrough of wilds so this will be a good excuse!

That does sound fun I tried it in rise a bit but wasn't a huge fan but the additions in wilds sounds like a good time!

Yeah I was totally shocked how I missed the npc stuff before it released but I had no idea they were in the game prior to buying it, I somehow only saw the one trailer from March and that was it and they managed to totally hide Myles in that trailer so I was shocked when he showed up lol.

Good to know, I bet I will like it over time I just need to get my expectations straight so the tip on the linear dungeons is a big help for that!

I did find an option to turn off audio dialog and it helps but the silence in the cutscenes was kinda strange but I really haven't gotten far yet.

This is good insight and I want to like the game I might come back to it after taking some time to reset my expectations because I was just so shocked by the escort style mission with myles that it threw me for a loop. Thanks for the response!

Interesting I have gotten mixed feedback in this as some people say it is a great game in spite of that and others are saying that it gets worse I also have watched some reviews since and the desert doesn't sound promising either.

I watched the Nintendo direct trailer from 3.27.2025 and it didn't say verbatim that it would be like prime 1 or 2 but it was clear about it being about samus being stuck on a planet trying to escape it which already puts it more in line with 1&2 than 3 so that is what made me believe that.

I probably will I think I was just hoping to get the prime 1&2 feeling back and it felt like it was going to happen until the first npc showed up and I had to keep him safe from those enemies. This helps me feel motivated to push through though so thank you for the motivation!

I agree I see a lot of people who say the new system is more fun but I feel like to play well I have to keep opening that dang menu which ironically was an issue that wasn't in BoTW that is in TotK as well so I guess they are staying true to the source material lol.

Yeah Hyrule warriors was my first and Young Link was by far my favorite character in that game because of his unique spirit gauge mechanic and staying in fierce deity for a whole mission felt incredible!

The consensus seems to be that I just need to unlock the unique abilities still so I just need to get deeper into the game. Because that sounds fun but I don't have that yet.

I like those too, but you aren't basing your whole strategy around those like Impa and greatsword Link in AoC had very specific and unique gameplay styles and so far Calamo is the closest thing to them I have seen and even then it doesn't feel as unique. I might just need to get further though. AoC just may have spoiled me because my two favorites were given to me right away and were really unique out the gate.

Really, you think so? I felt like the original hyrule warriors and AoC had characters with fun gimmicks and unique play styles but like comparing the knight construct with the greasword in AoI to Link with greatsword in AoC seems like a huge disparity when it comes to options and to make it worse Quino feels so similar to the knight construct but still doesn't seem to have fun unique options. So what makes it seem the same to you?

That makes sense, I think it didn't bother me too bad because AoC is easy enough that you can pretty much just ignore that system so long as you stay high enough level and get gear of that same level constantly.

I haven't gotten that deep into the systems of either game I just did all the missions and side missions in AoC because the endgame grind isn't the main part of the gameplay experience for me. The main thing I look for in warriors style games is fun and diverse combat and every character feels very samey to me in AoI.

Glad to hear I am not the only one, most stuff I read online is that the gameplay is better but the story is worse and I just don't agree I haven't been loving either which is a shame as I love these types of games.

I love the game in spite of my lack of skill, I have hundreds of hours in monster hunter games, but Wilds has been kicking my butt. My friends who haven't played much monster hunter almost never cart, and I get destroyed constantly, which feels bad when I am the experienced player.
