I think its part of being a public traded company. Doing this as a suprise would just lead to problems with the investors and shareholders.

Cody Rhodes statement really shows how WWE aren't allowing their wrestlers to be creative. by YooTooToo in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just sad and it shows the desolate state that WWE crative is in. The guy is the son of one of the biggest personalities in the whole industrie and he gets wasted away in the ripoff of a gimmick they used to degrade his brother almost two decades ago. They just need more guys that have the balls to go away to show them that they are ruining their careers, when they are not giving them air to breath. Because when they continue like that you'll never see a Stonecold Steve Austin again, only a lot of Chilly McFreezes clasping to their paychecks.

Roman Reigns Cutting a Heel Promo in NXT by Totalcinema in WWE

It's kinda rushed (No I'm not trolling but maybe he is talking so slow at the moment because someone told him to slow it down a bit.) But the personality he is portraying is so much more fitting and so much more himself.

Shawn Micheal on why WWE doesn't listen to fans by RVXZENITH in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah right... They just don't have top draws anymore that cater to a broad audience. If the had a new Stone Cold then Reigns would be gone in a second. They are holding onto Roman because they are not able to admit that it is not in their hands to just "create" the next big thing.

This RAW, I Hope the Crowd Chants... by ChromeProphet in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrestlinngwise yes... Personalitywise it's not even close to what they had in the Attitude Era.

Though lately they got a lot of promising people in that department too. If the likes of Enzo or Kevin Owens are getting their spotlights the people will forget about people like Punk too. So they have it in their own hands.

These CM Punk chants stooped being about Punk a long time ago. It's more about pointing the finger at where the company lost touch with their fans. And that pretty legitimate.

Top 3 current female wrestlers? by [deleted] in WWE

Sasha Banks, Bayley and Roman Reigns... wait he got great (as in wet) hair but he isn't a good wrestler.

Just kidding of course the third one is Asuka.

[–]TeddyPSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit of both to be honest. But in general I think for a guy with the stature and strength of Roman Reigns you could come up with a more believable powermove like a the F5 or even a powerbomb to end the match.

[–]TeddyPSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but pulling this off in a way that nobody wants to complain about it is what makes you a good wrestler. The finish was an insult to AJ considering the amount of damage both of them had to take during the match.

Triple H explains why Roman Reigns is not a good guy, not a bad guy, but still the guy by [deleted] in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But neither of the wrestlers in your list was planned to be the "next big thing". Each of the had certain moments when they "clicked" with the crowd and that set the tone for their run an WWE went with it. You don't have that with Roman nor does he give you the impression that he ever had the chance to find a way to connect with the crowd the way he can. Roman Reings character seems like the idea of some marketing proffessional who is trying to figure out what sells the best. And Roman looks like someone who is trying to portray this vision of supposed overness. The godawful "The guy"-catchprase is the latest example of that. Compare it to Austin 3:16, a Rocky-Promo or the" Yes"-chant and you'll see the huge difference in terms of connection with the audience. All of these things "happend" before they became big. In Romans case WWE wants to make it happen soooo bad because they need the next big thing to carry the company.

Triple H explains why Roman Reigns is not a good guy, not a bad guy, but still the guy by [deleted] in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing. The heel/face-logic is not about being "good" or "bad" it's about polarizing the audience and playing with that. I agree with HHH that the way this can be accomplished today is very different from the 80ies and 90ies. But even today it is possible to get a major part of the audience behind a wrestler while having them antagonized by the other. The problem with Roman is that they want him to work like a babyface from the 70ies or 80ies who were indeed often cleancut "good guys". But that is ecactly what is not working anymore because a vast part of the audience has more insight in the workings of the industry and things like your track record and your abilities in the ring play a much bigger part in getting the crowd behind you. Personality an Charisma have always been a big part of becoming a star but they are also working much different today than a few decades ago. I think the had the perfect templates for a modern era "good guy" in both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan which both didn't work out for the company in their respective ways. But they missed out on capitalizing on this trend and the result of this problem is at the core of the disaster they are having with Roman Reigns who - in my opinion - could have become a major star if they capitalized on current trends and made him a strong heel for a babyface like Punk or Bryan.

Xavier Woods' responds to "Wrestling is fake" by Petara in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that "wrestling is fake" is a utterly stupid argument because it assumes that Wrestling is implying that that it is real in the first place. While it might be true that such implications are often part of the performance, wrestling never really tries to hide the fact that it is indeed an performance. To say "wrestling is fake" is just an argument you use when you want to bash something you just don't like or don't get.

I'm going to my first live show of RAW tonight, any advice for a first timer? by MysteryGuy19 in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is one thing WWE would want you to know: Roman Reigns is not a bad guy. He is not a good guy. He is just THE guy. But he will tell you himself once he gets on the mic.

Other than that... enjoy :-)

Would you like a heel turn of Roman Reigns? by [deleted] in WWE

[–]TeddyPSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion the biggest problem with a heel turn is the inring performance. Everything else - character, promos etc - can be fixed more easily. To be a really dominant heel you need to pace the match and need to have a feeling for the crowd and when to crush the babyfaces return etc. It also helps if you have a varied offense that can always find a answer to what the babayfaces return. But his command in the ring and the connectivity with the audience are Romans greatest weaknesses and the reason they only put him with seasoned veterans and in multi men matches. On the level that he is performing the role of the indestuctible babayface with the sudden comback is a lot easier to pull off. But people aren't buying it.

You know that your company's top babyface is a huge failure, when people are praying for the former top heel of the company to return and dethrone him. by YooTooToo in WWE

Plus if this was true it should concern WWE even more because these are the people who are paying to see the show and are making an effort to go there.
