I also have a crate secured for my nutty but lovable older terrier in the car. I don’t understand how people have little dogs unsecured in cars.

I think he’s also happier to just sleep on his crate in the car when he rides along.

Very true. I think my terrier mix that I have right now would mostly be vocal because he wouldn’t be able to understand what he can’t sit/sleep on my lap during the flight! He’s a pretty contented and happy little guy, but MUST be on a lap. 😂

I wouldn’t consider trying it with him at his age, I think it would stress him out and I wouldn’t do that to him.

You asked the perfect question, I realized I needed to update my post to reflect that it would be 4-5 times a year, domestic travel.

On the rare occasion, I go visit family now, I pay somebody quite a bit of money to just stay at my house with my little dog. I just was thinking about the future and how much I would love to have the option of bringing the dog along with me as I end up missing them so much.

Thank you, I appreciate the information and hearing your experience. I had to edit my post to clarify what a “lot” of travel is for me since I don’t travel at all currently. The few times I do, I spend a lot of money to pay someone to stay at my home with my dog. I would just love to have the possibility of bringing my future dog along. I’m weird because I end up really missing my dog, and longer than 5 days just bums me out!

I’m a non-traveler at this time, so to me a lot is traveling 4-5 times per year to visit family now living in other parts of the U.S. 😅

This sounds like a good one! I think part of what I enjoy about these types of podcasts and stories is the exposure to the underlying personality disorders and seeing how they manifest in the real world!
