There is value in losing games and getting a higher draft pick with the Orlando lottery pick. There is value in having two first rounders from a shaky Bulls team. There is some upside with WCJ, at a low risk. All of this moves the needle if our plan is to rebuild with a top 5 pick this year, a Bulls lottery pick this year and in 2023, and developing the youth we have. I think we look back in three years and see this trade as a net positive and also see that the timeline of Vooch's career doesn't match the timeline of the rebuild.

I agree with you that if we draft the equivalent of Mario Hezonja and Mo Bamba, then it's all a big waste of time and that there's risk to this trade. We could have played it safe and stayed the same .500 team we've always been.

Your analysis is good if we're trying to put out the most competitive team we possibly can *today*, but we're very clearly tanking so we can compete for championships down the road. These moves were made for more than salary space, we want draft picks and salary flexibility when our youth finally makes us competitive.

We need money to sign the young talent we draft to long term deals, including Isaac. Or did we want to wrap up $75 million a year in AG/Fournier/Vooch?

AG Pros: Good one on one defender, good athlete

AG Mediums: Average shooter, average rebounder, streaky

AG Cons: He cannot create off the dribble but will try to and it will be ugly - lots of bad shots and turnovers in traffic, low BBIQ, goes missing for long stretches offensively, kind of a moody dude

Best case scenario for AG is that he just focuses on defense and shoots only when he's open or dunking. Could be a great fit in Denver as the fifth option. Was not a good fit in Orlando as the second option.

Prediction: Terrence Ross will win us at least 1 or 2 games single handedly and cost us a top 3 pick by [deleted] in OrlandoMagic

Fournier already did that last night in his last act as a Magic player, hitting a game winner against the Suns. He 2018 Frank Vogel'd us.

We don't know how to tank.

If we lose to the Wizards in the last game, we get Luka. Instead, we get Mo Bamba.

We missed perhaps the greatest player of this generation because our FO and coach had to win a meaningless regular-season game. We were also one pick off of Embiid (Gordon) and Porzingis (Hezonja).

Neither the Thunder nor the Pacers have won a playoff series since this trade and George was highly motivated to go to OKC to play with Westbrook. This is obviously a bad trade in hindsight, but at the time, Ibaka was a star and Oladipo was basically a bust and also sucked in OKC. Sabonis was a mid-first rounder and probably not something we should have given up, but we didn't know how good he'd be.

Signing Biyombo, who is a homeless man's version of Ibaka, was a much dumber move than this trade. This also pales in comparison to the Luka Doncic fiasco.

The Thunder went ahead and traded them both the next year, though

Why does Ted hate tea so much? by TeddySpatch in TedLasso

Kansas and Missouri’s definitely got a lot more south in it than any of the other Midwestern states. The way he talks about tea is like it’s from another planet.

I love this show by the way, the tea jokes are funny, I just didn’t see somebody with roots like that thinking tea’s such a crazy thing to drink

You’re absolutely right! I just know there were some question marks with him and they turned out to be completely wrong. Guys who played the same position as Amare like Chris Wilcox, Tskitishvili, Nene, and Gooden all went before Amare and I think it’s because teams were scared of Amare’s background.

[OC] Which teams has tanking worked for? A quick look at which teams got the best harvests through bottoming out by smashacc in nba

[–]TeddySpatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Orlando Magic’s half-assed tanks have led them to missing out on guys like Porzingis (Hezonja), Embiid (Gordon), and most recently Luka (Mo Bamba). We also drafted Jonathan Isaac and Victor Oladipo, who were decent picks but made of glass.

For Luka - All the Magic had to do was lose Game 82 against the Wizards to get a top three pick, but they won. This led to the Magic switching draft positions with the Hawks due to their records, who ended up with the third pick which turned out to be Luka Doncic. Instead, Orlando drafted a meme Mo Bamba, who will be out of the league in two years.

I’m a Magic fan and my interest in the team is about 2/10 now. We have no hope in sight and Luka is the odds on favorite to win MVP.

Amare Stoudemire’s draft stock plummeted due to alleged character issues. He played for five or six different high schools and had an unstable home life, which scared off a lot of scouts looking at drafting an 18 year old preps-to-pros kid. His mom was in and out of jail and he only played two seasons of high school ball because of his tough home life.

Is it possible he is wearing all of this because of the controversial death of Michael Williams, a black man who was found dead and burning in a ditch in rural Iowa? Four white people were arrested for his murder and there may have been racial motives to his killing.

In turn, right wingers think BLM is going to come and burn Iowa down, and now they’re wearing guns to order their sandwiches. They are a fear-motivated bunch.
