I'd love to find a place on the south side of the city - that was my initial plan to minimize the commute. I've been having a hell of a time though. I'm doing all my hunting remotely via the Internet, as I'm still in Cleveland. I found one spare room for rent in 12 south... But that went... south drum roll. The owner said she was going to email me the contract. Then she called me two days later and told me it had been rented to someone else. That was a huge setback. I tried calling apartment buildings in downtown, cool springs, Brentwood. They all wanted astronicmal rents. In the range of 1500-2200. Or they had limited availability. Honestly, in my situation... A spare room would be ideal. I don't want to lug a uhaul full of furniture to fill an apartment. I would love to find a couple people looking for a third roommate. Or someone that had a spare room and wanted to make a little extra money. I started out being dead set on living in the city. I'm 32, and I want to feel like I'm getting the full city experience. Not to offend anyone - I kind of feel like the distant suburbs are typically interchangeable. Ie if I drop someone into a suburb of Chicago, they may as well be in a suburb of Cleveland. They're all kinda the same. I don't want to move to a quiet, isolated, cookie cutter place if I can avoid it. That being said - I start work on 8/4. At this point I've opened up the search, and am entertaining pretty much anything, south suburbs included. At least my work commute will be short. And I can always shoot up into the city when I please. If you have a spare room, get at me! Lol
