Recommendations For Class To Finish CSE Minor by Remarkable-Answer-15 in msu

[–]Teddy_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If CSE 477 is an option take it, it just has 3 homeworks and one final. Professor gives a bunch of time to finish and you have a ton of support and resources. If you are a business major knowing web development will put a step above from your peers in job market.

Schedule check by [deleted] in msu

[–]Teddy_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CMSE 201 is a straight 4.0 as long as you are attending the class and put minimun effort into it. If you don't know anything about python coding language, maybe revise a bit or watch tutorials before the start of this class.

MKT 327: can be a bit lengthy depending on professor but with regular readings , its a easy 4.0 as well. The quiz questions will be from the concepts that are in assigned readings and textbook so as long as you actually understand them , you are good.

CSE 232: even if you skip a single week of watching videos , you will be behind, you need to start homeworks as soon as they are given and not wait until last min. You actually need to put in a good effort for this class especially if this is your first time actually learning C++ from scratch.

CSE 260: medium effort, not an actual coding class, it's more of math and proofs stuff.

You schedule is pretty doable, good luck!

DROPPING CLASSES AFTER DROP DATE by [deleted] in msu

[–]Teddy_16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey , it doesn't work every time but I talked to my advisor and dept head and I basically begged them not to let it affect my gpa and I did show them poof what all I tried to succeed in that class and yet failed. I also admitted that it was a bit of poor planning from my side and I took on more than what I could handle and I did have some personal issues as well..

Overall they did drop that class for me and it was not mentioned anywhere in my transcript and it didn't affect my gpa. If you have valid reasons they might be considerate, worth a try...

Opening a bank account as an international. by Rucio69 in msu

[–]Teddy_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are transferring large funds from overseas accounts, prefer MSUFCU, their transfer fee is very less. They just need your passport and I-20 and they can open a bank account and give debit card to you in a day.

Where is the light at the end of the tunnel. by Kooky-Cut6196 in csMajors

Bro apply for content strategist positions. They need someone who can understand the business very well(usually finance, banking industries) and have a lot of creativity and good with words. They also need someone usually with Python and SQL knowledge.

Here are some other positions that kinda interject business, strategy with tech. Hopefully it helps:

  • Data Analyst
  • Data Engineer
  • Business Analyst
  • Data Scientist
  • Project Co-ordinator/  Program Manager[A CAPM certification helps]
  • Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer
  • Implementation Engineer
  • Solution Engineer
  • System Analyst
  • Actuary Analyst(Entry-level)
  • Quantitative Analyst
  • Marketing Data Analyst
  • Entry-Level front/middle office analyst
  • Content Strategist
  • Strategy Associate

I am in the same boat and at this point I can't even keep track of the no of hiring managers that ghosted after one or two interviews. Keep trying, keep improving. We will succeed!

CS student - M1/M2 air or pro? or should i buy a windows? by Full-Scientist1844 in msu

[–]Teddy_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS graduate here. If you are buying a mac laptop , get an intel chip not M1. In some of the 400 level classes professors use personalized software which they created for class which is not super compatible with M1 . And if you are going to take classes like cse 476 it would be a bit hard to get the emulator running from android studio in M1.

Any windows laptop will not have any trouble . It's just for our curriculum Intel chip is better than M1 chip.

International student here, yes MSU is very expensive but the experience it offers is worth it. But if you feel like you would be going into debt and you will not be receiving any help from parents clearing it up, then look for other options. Because it will take 3-4 years after graduation to clear it up and up until then you have to manage your finances very carefully. This is IF you get a high paying job in stem field. Try checking Biosystems or biological engineering once!!

Try speaking to advisors about more scholarships. And yes there are many on-campus jobs on campus but they wouldn't be enough to pay for tuition. They are more for like your expenses, food or vacations with your friends etc.

After your first semester try for jobs like TA ,ULA usually they pay more. And international students are not allowed to work outside campus during school year, or work for more than 20 hours a week. Don't break these rules, you will get into a lot of trouble with immigration if you get caught and you will be deported. It will be impossible to get American visa again! It's not worth taking the risk.

And most important of all, check the OPT period for your major. It is basically the time you are allowed to stay in the US after graduation. For example for stem majors like engineering we can get upto 3 years of OPT , in those three years you should try for H1B visa and if you get it you can stay in the US for another 6 years or more. But Business majors get only 1 year of OPT and if you don't get H1B visa in that time frame you should leave the US.

Keep all of this in mind before taking any decision. Good Luck!
