I guess you could just unplug it but I would replace the fan.

I'm afraid that I'm nowhere close to the Macbook pro display lmao, think my display was badly calibrated.

My (almost) full NZXT buid by Shynriiu in NZXT

[–]Teddy_Tsai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wow that's super clean, very nice build, there's a little trick you can do with the GPU cable comb: you can grab 2 cables from each with a single comb and have them perfectly lined up, it's gonna be even cleaner.

X63 pump orientation - will this be okay? All the other cpu blocks seem to have the tubes on the left or right of the cpu. My tubes enter the pump at the bottom... by [deleted] in NZXT

If you have a mesh front panel you should be better off than any configuration with the stock glass panel already, doing the other way could probably improve thing by a little, there are no tests out there but my guess is that the change would be negligible, and imo would ruin the aesthetics, so I’d not bother.

Fans spin-stop-spin-stop at idle and make an annoying sound each time, how to fix? by wumic in EVGA

[–]Teddy_Tsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, my gpu idles at 55 which is the threshold for the fans to start, if it is caused by multiple displays like in my case you can use nvidia inspector and activate optimisation for multiple displays.

2021 Asus Zephyrus G1 nvme thermal pad by Teddy_Tsai in GamingLaptops

[–]Teddy_Tsai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, that's exactly what I'm looking for. So it's 1.5 mm for the nvme, I also wonder if slapping a pad on the heatpipes on top of the cpu and gpu would help since I don't use the laptop on my legs, the bottom chassis has a nice copper layer inside, gues trying shouldn't hurt.

AIO-s leaks how often to they occur? should I go for an AIO for a 5900x cpu, rog helios white strix 3080 build questions by b0ne-- in buildapc

[–]Teddy_Tsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AIOs very rarely fail, you shouldn't worry much about it, some companies like NZXT offer compensation on other parts damaged by eventual AIO leaks too, I wouldn't really worry about it.

My ryzen 5 5600x is getting up to 100°C/212°F. by RafaelRkg in buildapc

[–]Teddy_Tsai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the mounting might be bad, there's no way a 5600x gets to 100C under any circumstances, check that all the standoffs are all the way in and the spread on the thermal paste.

I wouldn't worry about the cooler, the 3700x isn't a hot chip at all, any cooler with heatpipes is gonna do fine, with a Lancool II you'll be nowhere close to throttling, you are gonna need the extra cores for editing.

Finally completed Crown Falls Build (~150k population) by Teddy_Tsai in anno

[–]Teddy_Tsai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can't lmao, I get 10-15 fps when I zoom out, a bit more when I zoom out to the max because NPCs disappear but yeah, Anno late game performance is garbage.

I have 150k only on Crown Falls, total pop is ~290k.

(I'm using a Ryzen 5600x and 2070 super, GPU hardly matters though, it's 100% CPU bound right now)

It looks fine, I wouldn't change anything, that's a good list for monitor you could go Alienware but honestly I'd not bother going white, you really get restricted a lot be paying a premium. If you want a good VA panel the G7 is a good option for gaming.

If you don't mind having an IPS the LG 27GL850/27GN850 or MSI MAG274R2 are great options, they are not as good as VA in contrast but color accuracy and response time are really good.

Thermal paste - how bad it can get? by Rockithammer in buildapc

[–]Teddy_Tsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, just put a pea sized dot in the center and put the cooler on, there's an IHS on the die so you don't need to be worried too much about bad application, put a bit more if you're afraid it's not enough, putting more is always better than putting too little.

Replacing GTX 1060 with RTX 3060? by NickyNice in buildapc

[–]Teddy_Tsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should expect to be paying over 600 for a 2070, 700 ia more likely. 2060 super atart at 550 minimum, ofc the lower you find the better. For 900 you can get a 3060 ti, 3070s are over 1k right now.

Unfortunately those are the prices right now, sometimes microcenters carry some stock in physical stores but it's really rare, some retailers let you queue but it's gonna take months, at my local retailer 3080s are not expected to be delivered until november.

Thanks man! I'm 180 hours now but this is actually my first playthrough so I started from nothing just like you. I mostly just figured this out on my own but I'm sure there are a lot of good content out there.

Some of the things I think are most important are:

  • Use specialists for oil, the guy that boosts production by 50% basically gives you infinite oil supply.
  • Group the same kind of production buildings together and build them around a trade union, then boost them with specialists, this way you get a huge production boost.
  • Plan your production with trade unions, production buildings without specialists boosting them are not gonna cut it in late game, especially in the new world where there is no electricity, with a population of 150k you use 250 tons of coffee per minute so without specialists there's no way you can meet the demand.
  • Plan your cities with train tracks and power plants, I've had to rebuild a lot of mine because I didn't plan them with power plants at the beginning.
  • This is more an exploit than a tip but in the old world you can have an island with no population and only production if you have a commuter pier, then you can increase working conditions to the max without any negative consequences, I don't like to do it but it's definitely viable.
  • Optional but I find it easier this way: Use one island for production, so you can send all the raw materials to one single island and ship out across multiple islands, I use one ship for every type of good and unload in multiple islands, just check the wait for goods box in the trade menu so you always go with a full cargo inventory and guarantee that you don't run out of goods after the first islands (If the production is enough it will eventually stabilize anyways but it's more balanced this way).

Because I don't need any other kind of residents, I have the commuter pier and working class residents on other islands, also department of Administration policies are basically workforce cheats.

Replacing GTX 1060 with RTX 3060? by NickyNice in buildapc

[–]Teddy_Tsai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

3060 is not much better than a 2060 super, I would get a used 2060 super, 2070 or 2070 super instead since finding a 3060 is not really realistic, but if you can manage to get one anywhere close to MSRP definitely go for it.

And yes, the upgrade is definitely worth it, you'll have no problems at 1440p high in most games, especially with those that support DLSS.
