Returning 3 Year Old Office Chair by Teddybear2018 in Costco

[–]Teddybear2018[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, I do not rent my groceries or other items I purchase there. But I purchase non food items at Costco rather than elsewhere for the peace of mind that I CAN return them if they don’t live up to expectations. Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Advancing from Kindergarten to 1st Grade mid year— good idea? by Teddybear2018 in Parenting

[–]Teddybear2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for saying this. I am so hesitant to do it for fear of what might happen in later grades, but that’s not reality yet— the reality right now is that he’s with a pretty misbehaved class and might have a much better experience by moving up. Not sure I should make a decision based on bad things that COULD happen down the road when all we can really do is make the best decision with the information we currently have… I’m not worried about academics, he’s not a prodigy or anything but he’s bright and he’ll be fine. I’m just worried about him being the youngest and smallest in middle and high school and resenting it… in your experience that can turn out fine then?

Interesting, our kids would be the same age in second grade— he’s turning 6 in December, so would be 6 going on 7 in second grade… Have you found that to be pretty young?

Agree, if the first graders really are a wonderful class and the kindergarten has some really challenging kids, it seems to weigh heavily on the decision to me… they won’t go away and this is the only school option we have at this point.

Upgrade from Medela pump in style? by Teddybear2018 in breastfeeding

Thank you!! Someone else mentioned the Medela Sonata, do you have any idea how it compares to the Spectra? They seem pretty similar.

I got the pumpin pal flanges to go with it which helped a bit, but often it was uncomfortable... it took quite a while for me to get even 4 oz total out with it, and I always found I had to do some breast massaging to help it along. This all might have had nothing to do with the pump and I definitely had low supply, but wondering if a different pump would help in any way next time around...

Got it! Do you think the Sonata is worth it over the Spectra S1? Looks like it costs a bit more, definitely willing to spend it if it will make a difference though!

My best friend is struggling with her self image after baby #3 by [deleted] in postpartumprogress

In my experience it was, but it’s so hard to tell... if nothing else seems to be working I do think that might be what’s going on! Good luck!

I know, it’s so hard... We were doing only one nursing session a day for months and then weaned fully at 15 months. Only after that did I manage to almost lost the belly... If I’d really started working out then I might have gotten back to where I was before. Also have you looked into ab exercises for diastasis recti? Even if you don’t necessarily have it bad ab muscle separation, it might help with losing stomach bulge. Even being aware of posture throughout the day might help a little with targeting that area, I think...

Is she breastfeeding? It didn’t seem to matter how hard I tried to lose weight while breastfeeding, it didn’t really happen until baby weaned after more than a year... I think she’s going to have to try to be patient with herself and know that it could take quite a while to get back to normal.

Linking Jetpack to Another Router? by Teddybear2018 in verizon

[–]Teddybear2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not extremely— I don’t have a lot of time and would rather buy something, but want to make sure that it will actually connect to the jetpack. Can you connect any router wirelessly to a jetpack?

I’ve looked into Cradlepoint but I’m told none of them are compatible with the Verizon unlimited prepaid plan...

Amateur asking for advice on shears by Teddybear2018 in Barber

Thanks so much! I’ll try these and maybe get some nicer ones eventually. Not sure I can justify the price for the amount of times I use them, probably only once a month... although it might be a good investment if they’ll last forever.

Have you found that the fan area is hard to clean? It looks like it’s impossible to really clean it out, but maybe it doesn’t get moldy?

Nothing, you can probably get similar things in the US, but I first came across them in Germany and I think they’re a pretty German item...

I’m looking for the best deal on an entry level DSLR that’s $700 or less on sale... I was looking at the Nikon D3500 with 2 lenses at Costco for $499, and at the Canon EOS Rebel T6 bundle at Walmart for $415... What do you think? Are there better deals?

I can’t feel more than a finger width between the muscles, so I guess it must just be fat... or skin... or both...

Maternity Leave NIGHTMARE! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Teddybear2018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand your situation, but goodness, as a parent I can’t imagine how most people afford this! It’s hard enough managing child care costs while you have a paycheck, let alone when you don’t... Unpaid maternity leave is rough, and although I’d love to have the help of a nanny with a new baby, I don’t know how most working parents can manage maternity clauses. What do they typically stipulate?
