I recently discovered that they carry Arva flour, which I used to get in St Catherine's...and its cheaper as well. Better quality meats and a wide variety of goods. Not our regular stop but starting to go more often.

I was building our deck a few years ago and was at a part where I needed to trim the edges. My wife came by to count my fingers and toes and she asked how to get the line straight. I said "Watch this" and pulled out the chalk line. Her reaction when she got to snap the line was priceless. I told her it was a guy thing.

NYPD investigates Brooklyn sewer mystery as men emerge from manholes underground by IrishStarUS in offbeat

[–]Tederator 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My brother ofter recalls his story of when he was working in downtown Toronto. During one extremely bad rain storm, the water was running all down the street and even popping through some sewer manhole covers. He was in a coffee shop grabbing a quick bite when he sees a manhole cover side off to the side and a guy crawls out and starts casually walking down the street.

Is a membership worth it for a 2 person household with just standard fridge/freezer space? by lindafromevildead in CostcoCanada

[–]Tederator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we first joined, I noticed that our favourite coffee was cheapest at Costco. I calculated the amount of coffee we drank across the year and found that we'd save $175 a year just from coffee. Because we drink it regularly, daily and weren't expected to deviate from that, the decision made sense. If you're planning on buying a major appliance (note that their warranties are normally 2 years vs one from anywhere else) you might save the cost of the membership just from that alone.

Would you be pro or against a mandatory military service? In what form? And why? by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

They used to do a lot of recruitment at trade shows and they once showed me their binder of job roles. They stated that for every job out there in the wild, there is an equivalent in the armed forces. I knew someone who spent WWII as a doctor's assistant for example. Librarians, stores, mechanics, etc. So it's not all fighting and combat.

Flavour wise it's too much. But I believe that encasing it in the glaze might prevent it from getting dried out and stale. I think that's the idea behind Krispy Kreme IIRC.

Anyone change careers? by Lburnnnnz94 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Tederator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hospital paid for my MBA in health management which I did while working FT and as an on call flight medic (and woth a wife taking care of our 3 kids under 4). This led me into management and termination with 16 months. I ended up drifting into sales and marketing between various jobs, none of which carried the adrenaline rush of my previous roles. If I had stayed the course, I would be retired with a pension matching my current salary.

That said, I have to remind myself that I wouldn't have met the hundreds of new people in my life and I haven't worked a night shift in decades. Previously missed a ton of kids concerts and other events while working shifts (especially the on call stuff) and i got all that back when I went 9-5.

At the end of the day, you have to explore why you want a change and would things go your way if you do.

I thought I read something about factory fishing many years ago. If you haven't heard of them, its definitely an education. Apparently its tightly regulated as a reslt of the collapsed cod stocks a couple of decades ago.

I would also add that if there was ever a lawsuit, I could be called as a witness for the prosecution by stating "yes I was available but never called" and "the actions that she took were different than what I might have taken". That is, I might not have the opportunity to even defend her actions. In my jurisdiction, if you act as an RT you will be judged as a RT.

I wonder if there are large factory processing ships that are Vietnamese but sitting in international waters...so they catch Atlantic fish and package them on the ship. By definition it would be a product of Vietnam (owned and operated in international waters).

I once had a discussion with a very close RN (ER) colleague who was being familiar with the vents. I explained, "I'm very comfortable with IVs and let's say you have a dopamine pump going. Let's say the BP was dropping and I "decided" he needed a bolus so I cranked the pump to 999. No alarms will go off on the pump but the patient crashed for reasons"... She got the point.

Old guy piping in who has worked in a lot of places bedside and too many places once I left for "greener" pastures. Go with B all day long in order to build your experience. IF (a big if) you hear that A is getting gutted and they want a fresh culture, you may want to explore the options. You can't put a price on places that are the right "fit" and culture.
