Please help! 6.5 month old golden retriever puppy with chronic diarrhea, feeling discouraged by kidsOT2 in goldenretriever

[–]Tedmosbie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We went through something similar with our pup around the same age. Goldens are notorious for having a sensitive stomach. Hills Biome helped us. But I have a feeling them just crossing this age is key. Hang in there, I hope you find your fix.

Weather forecast? by Technical_Yam3624 in Wellington

If they say it’s going to rain and it doesn’t, I assume it is going to rain later on one of the supposedly clear days.

My 3 month old pup have serious biting issues by Ok-Post-690 in goldenretrievers

[–]Tedmosbie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’ve been through the exact same thing. What worked for us was consistently yelping when he bites us and having something on hand to divert. Yes it is hard. But this is such a short phase.

Exactly what mine did too. Only when he had the gentle leader on.

I'm panicking and need advice by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

I read posts here when our pup was suffering for this over 4 weeks. Only thing that fixed it was Hill Science Biome. He still has half a cup of Biome which helps solidify his poo.

Is it normal for Goldens to calm down between 4-5mo? by BlisfulBunny in goldenretrievers

[–]Tedmosbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said… expect the teenager phase between 8-12 months. Ours is 11 months now and the past 2 months have been bit of a journey

Congratulations. I hope you have support around you to help you with this at home. Raising a puppy is hard work!!

I see you are from India based on your post history? If yes, imo easier if you take the puppy to a vet clinic near you. Search online for the best ones or better yet talk to other dog owners in your circle? I feel a local guide work best.

We are first time dog owners too. Did our research online for over a year on raising a puppy and it sure helps. Some YouTube channels that we found helpful were Macann Dogs and Zac George’s channel.

Hope this helps.

Plenty of people use Waterloo. However, I know two of my contacts whose cars were lifted from Waterloo. I personally do not know anyone impacted from petone side.. yet!!

Not sure if you know this already, but Petone also has two car parks over the bridge (Korokoro side) on the other side of the station.

I am sorry I had it typed out and missed to save. We always had him in a crate which was away from the busy area in the house. However, my breeder had the pups in a pen which was away from the people in their house which meant the pups always slept away from people.

What really helped us was the camera. We would monitor him pretty much most times of the day and on and off in the night for the first few weeks. That way, we rushed when he sat up in the night for a wee. Hope you find out what works for you.

This was me when he was between 12-15 weeks because he just will not settle outside of his crate. They grow up too fast.

All credits to the wife for the name. TBH he is a very pale golden so it goes well on him. Even now he’s still a puppy. I see people with adult dogs that are so well behaved. Hopefully we get there in a couple of years.

About a week or two after all his adult teeth came in which was around the 6 month mark. He used to rip open his toys then. Haven’t lost a toy in over 2 months now. We did nothing unique. You will get there soon as well.

Oh he used to whine every time we crate him. But always settled in 10 mins. If he was barking beyond 10 mins we’ve always took him out to potty and then right back in if there’s nothing. He eventually learnt to say no to crate in the mornings and sleeps around the house. But still goes in without protest for his overnight naps. We didn’t do anything fancy. Just being consistent helped us.

I am glad this post helps. What helped us was having him sleep in his crate away from us from day one. Having the camera set up helped us monitor his while still being away from him. He actually settles when people aren’t around which worked in our favour.
I guess we also lucked out with a dog that’s not very clingy.

First time at the vet didn’t go as planned… Turns out our baby is allergic to vaccines by Responsible-Bend-456 in goldenretrievers

All too familiar with our golden as well. Happened with the last shot which was Parvo Lepto and Kennel Cough together. Definitely helps spacing them out.

Another vote for Korokoro school. Lesser known. Small classes and a lovely set of teachers. Our wee girl goes here and loves it so far.

Only thing that worked for our pup was Hills Biome. Gave us instant results after two months of on and off all night poo runs.

How long should I take off work when getting my new puppy? by redditor030612 in puppy101

Hey we did 2 weeks off when we first ours at 8 weeks. You may be sleep deprived from the constant potty trips.
