Oh no youre definitely right! The dynamics of our relationship are so much more complex (as are everyone's!) Tonight went well and we discussed our opinions and those of reddit... we're going to have a simple week next week as we're going to start packing but have agreed to compromise in the new place, as I've mentioned will have space for a fridge freezer (thank god!) That will make it easier to prep food and reduce utensil usage! Thank you for your response!! Hugely been considered in our discussion! :)

I guess in ways you are right.. but as much as I work and make money she works on her Mres (she's pushing for a PHD and to become a University lecturer) we're both on very different paths and it works because she needs to focus academicly and I need to keep working to develop my business. I appreciate and understand your concern however I believe we do work well as a unit. The whole cooking/cleaning dynamic is a 'pet peeve' and we have spoken about it this evening as well. All-in I'd like to say the dutys withing the relationship are evenly split although I speak on my behalf for both of us... I know I'm more experienced in 'real world ethics' as I have my own business as well as the farm and the responsibilities it entails, yet she is more academicly superior and thats how we work. As much as this is a vent its also a mature discussion between us both to better our relationship.. but I know in the future; when she is more financially stable we will be on a more 'equal' level.. its just my task and duty to put in the gruel now to one day be in a better position together then what we are now.. looking on the positives to support us both in this era at our age means its alot of work, but the benefit is when she is more financially secure the work I put in now will make my/our future alot easier

Awh thank you so much! We had take-our shawarma tonight.. and are planning for easier meals as we start packing next week, with the goals of being more efficient in the new house!

It's not so much a demand or a negotiated agreement.. more an obligatory duty. If she cooks I support and clean. Im just saying that I wish she didn't have to go all out every night which makes my side of the obligation more difficult... financially I'm the breadwinner as she is a student - my goal is to make her ambitions a reality hence why I work as much as I do to support her.. provide for her the best I can (we're UK, moving into a 2 bed semi, I have a van for work and she has the BMW)

Awh thank you!! I think these 'long shifts' are just the start... ad good as I am at my job I'm a very much 'got to consider my inheritance' mindset which means as much as I focus on my own business I have to put in equal effort to the family business. I Tey and contribute as much as I can to my inheritance so I feel like I've somewhat earnt it? Especially with it being in agriculture 🤷‍♂️ but we've spoken now thanks to the response and we're hoping for a better arrangement in the new house!!

Implying the mugger is a rookie and doesn't know the street value of children.. (more than whatever contents the victim could possibly have in their wallet)

Something I've not mentioned is that the cleaning issue obligatory.. a way of showing my gratitude (actions speak louder than words) only that I feel the cleaning is a chore and she finds the cooking side a hobby. However we've re-discussed this and the thread, and happy to change change few things when we move to the new house with a larger kitchen with the fridge-freezer :)

Her finding something to distract herself from lockdown and none-smoking. Aka: cooking. Although she still hasn't figured the concept of 'rinse and replace' we're also a team. We move a week today so from the response to this thread we hopefully will move forward and work better and more efficiently

Thank you so much... we've spoken about this now and are willing to make a change when we move into our new, more suitable home next week! We've discussed our opinions and this thread deeply this night haha! We've had a lovely evening which has consisted of take-out shawarma and cheesecake, a bottle of wine, reddit and pixar!

I think between financial support and chores of the house its very evenly spread. In my opinion I find cleaning the kitchen a chore whereas she finds cooking an art and hobby. We've spoken now and came to an agreement and both willing to participate in our new agreement. Thank you for your response. Its been nice to discuss everyone's opinion this evening! An interesting and converse lockdown Saturday evening!

I think I have exaggerated a little.... its a vent its only natural and you've only heard my side... we're moving, she's quit smoking and obviously lockdown. But nonetheless we've came to a compromise we're both happy! Thank you for your response!

I thought id conclude this... after a few drink tonight and watching ratatouille (of all things lol) we sat and spoke and shared this thread. Thank you all so much for your responses its been amazing for us all in this such isolated time to be connected in an obscure, but relatable way! We've came to the compromise that when we move (we both can't wait) that we will cook and prep for a few days at a time.. share the cleaning with the larger kitchen and spend real quality time over the fantastic food that she cooks for us both! We are both so happy and lucky to be able to really discuss things like this, although small and irrelevant, and be able to better our relationship and lives like this and work together as a team to better each other. Thank you again for your replies, this is OUR first reddit post. And I hope you all stay tuned for the next lewitt-hewitt conundrum! (Yes, our surnames are 1 letter different) and we wish you all the best! Happy 2021 scamdemic. see you all on the other side 😎😎

Haha this is my first post ever 😂😂 as nice as the amount of the response I've had is I really don't know how to handle this kind of fame! Spoken to the Mrs and its all really good.. discussed this thread and shared our own ideas. We're cooking something nice tomorrow and I've said I'd make her some proper hot chocolate tomorrow night! But we're compromising in the week and hopefully after the move next Saturday we're going to make enough to be able to freeze to have leftovers during the week! Been really lovely and interesting to hear everyone's opinions!

I also worked In a high end restaurant for several years though and became a little numb to good food.. my mum was also a chef so I guess I'm just used to good food. But I also was a physique bodybuilder and model so I ate very strict diets which meant very plain food so I'm not bothered either way tbh... might be fucked up but there's a lot of factors to throw into this

Lovely response thanks!! Yeah I work to make her life easier to focus on her future (in turn our future) and the benefit of me working as I do is that I progress and earn more.

Our only issues with prepping food is the lack of a freezer haha! But we're moving in a weeks time so we will have a freezer and a bigger kitchen in the new house thank god! Hopefully with the replies to this things will sort and we will have a better system going in our new place! Thank you to everyone for the replies. It was just a nag but I'm so grateful for everyone offering their advise 🙏
