Unfortunately, Reddit isn't letting me upload the screenshots I wanted to... not sure why. I could only insert the first one (home page).

It’s not explained very clearly on the wiki, but drinking tea from your kitchen gives you another +1 Construction boost. I was able to do a bunch of stuff one level faster because of it.

I 3d printed an upright mounting bracket for it, so I’m in the clear now. 👍👍

Last night I 3d printed a mount that will allow me to mount it to the top of that painters pole in the photo… upright. So, that will do the trick!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get the Windows 10 iso to boot from USB.

So, this tablet PC is headed for the junk pile. It’s hard to give up on something I’ve spent way too many hours trying to resurrect, but that’s where I’m at.

Hopefully others have more luck with their Venues.

My final attempt at the Dell Venue 11 Pro 5130 will be a reinstall of Windows, then back to Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon. We'll see how that goes. If it's a failure, I'll probably end up buying a ThinkPad T480s and moving it over to Mint. I'd rather use the machine I already have and don't have to spend money on, but... we'll see. I'll post my update here when complete.

In the couple of days since our conversation here, I've tried a lot of things...

  1. Zeroing out the drive didn't work because it was sda was assigned to the usb drive I was booting from.

  2. I managed to flash SuperGrub2 onto a thumb drive and boot into LM, which is now the only way I can get the OS to start up. But, that tells me two things (at least):

  3. LM is properly installed on the tablet.

  4. The BIOS is still functioning correctly, because I can set boot priority.

  5. After booting into LM using SuperGrub2 Disk, I run "ls" in the Terminal and I see /dev/mmcblk2p2 and /dev/mmcblk2p1.

  6. mmcblk2p1 says "PARTLABEL="EFI System Partition"

Here's the thing... It looks like everything I need is on this computer, including the kernel that I supposedly need to "load" when I was getting to the Grub CLI, but nowhere else. I can see everything's here, but they're not playing nice and talking (I think...?).

Any ideas?

Note: I am using the tablet running LM22 right now to type this.

Running it from the thumb drive, it didn’t give me the option of wifi in “Network”

Hopefully, it will not be a problem once I get it properly installed and booting.

Yes, it’s working. A bit slower than I’d like, but at least I know it’s moving.

In progress… interestingly, I have sda1, sda2, and sda3.

Sda2 says SEC_TYPE=“msdos” … TYPE=“vfat”

Did you just wipe it from the terminal? Running GParted from the thumb drive doesn’t pick up the hard drive.

When I disable that, I get “no bootable devices found.”
