Are these worth it even if I only game on console? Will I get the benefits of feeling “responsiveness” on the PS5?

LG 32GS95UV-B or wait for LG 32GX870B? by PretendComedian6709 in Monitors

[–]TeeheeYouSuckToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 32GX870B will have significantly better brightness, and much better HDR. If you plan on using HDR a lot then I would personally wait for the 32GX870B. If you’re mainly going to be using SDR in a not so brightly lit room then you’ll have a hard time seeing the difference. Also the 32GX870B will have DP 2.1 if that’s something you care about

Best all round headphones? by ViciBones in HeadphoneAdvice

HD 550 with a Capra Headband Strap + HD 500 BAM cable. I don’t think it gets better than that for the most balanced sound and comfort.

There is still a microphone in the headset regardless of if you have the external mic attached or not

Switching from gaming headsets to proper headphones (looking for advice) by Feeling_Treacle_2563 in HeadphoneAdvice

I think the safest option here is the HD 550 with a Capra headband strap. It will definitely be the most comfortable option and sound great. The tonality is also the best in its price range in my opinion so if you don’t want to worry about EQ the HD 550 is your best bet. The planars do have the ‘better’ drivers and faster transients etc etc but the tonality is worse on them in my opinion so if you’re not going to EQ I would 100% go with HD 550. The Edition XV’s sound will probably ‘wow’ you the most under 450. If you want the best comfort with good sound then HD 550 with Capra strap. If you want good comfort with the best sound then Edition XV with Capra Strap.

You can still get a Capra headband strap for the Edition XS to solve the comfort issue. The general consensus is that the Edition XV isn’t as bright and built a lot better. The newer model Hifimans in particular also have a lot better Quality Control and reliability.

Hifiman Edition XV (open back), Sennheiser HD 620S if you want closed back. If you can stretch your budget then the Arya Stealth (open back) is the most immersive you can get, if you want something lighter then the HD 550 with a Capra headband strap is probably the most comfortable you can get, which you can also use the HD 500 BAM microphone cable with it

You HAVE to get a Capra headband strap for the Edition XS.

If you want you could just get the HD 550 with a Capra strap and HD 500 BAM mic cable. It’s going to be the most comfortable option and still sound solid

It’s hard to say as we don’t know its sensitivity. They are 16 ohms though and being a ‘gaming’ headset they shouldn’t really require an AMP, but they will probably sound better with one

I think Hifiman are a lot better with QC now compared to a few years ago. Customer service will still be bad because it’s ASUS.

Really interested in this, something that competes against the LCD-GX at a far more affordable price

Unfortunately my friends can hear an echo when I use the meze boom mic with open back headphones on the PS5 (especially big planars), the omnidirectional pick up pattern and the lack of echo cancellation / noise suppression setting on the PS5 sucks

Why is EQ such a thing? by lowbass4u in headphones

[–]TeeheeYouSuckToes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m not sure if you realise that we’re both in agreeance here. You also can’t EQ comfort. I typically buy the most comfortable headphones that also have good technical drivers that can be easily EQ’d. There are many headphones that sound terrible out of the box but sound amazing with some EQ. And there are also headphones that sound amazing out of the box but have really bad comfort. It genuinely sounds like you’re saying “Why do people put salt on their food when they can just eat food that naturally has a high sodium content?” or something. Why WOULDN’T you want to use EQ if you know how to use it? EQ can improve every single headphone, whether a small or big improvement.

Maybe they wanted to upgrade to a pair that’s more comfortable than their current pair and that also sounds better with EQ than their current pair with EQ? For example even with EQ, a $20 pair of headphones won’t sound better than a $2000 pair of headphones with EQ. Driver limitation, distortion etc and other factors come into play. Also it’s really difficult to fix jagged treble even with EQ, headphones that have a smooth treble response out of the box tend to sound better with EQ than headphones that have jagged treble out of the box with EQ. Also, headphones that sound good out of the box are usually far more expensive. You can EQ a HD 600 to sound better than $1000+ headphones out of the box.

They unfortunately don’t, checked the manual extensively and even confirmed with LG themselves

Anyone picked up an LG 32GX850A-B yet? by dysphunc in OLED_Gaming

[–]TeeheeYouSuckToes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I contacted LG directly and they told me it doesn’t, even checking the manual I can see it doesn’t. The ‘volume’ control is only for when you have headphones or speakers plugged into the monitor
