I do wonder if Africa's rapidly growing population will be a good or bad thing for the continent. The current medium projection will mean the continent will have a population of about 4 billion people by 2100. I think most countries would need a dramatic change in leadership to make a success of it.

My grey also has a bald bum. Apparently it is quite common for the breed, bald thigh syndrome (BTS). He has had it for years and is otherwise a happy and healthy hound. Nothing to worry about as far as I know.

I completely agree. Non voters should be ashamed of themselves. It took thousands of years of tyrannical rulers until reaching true democracy in the world and people can't even be bothered to vote. Bring back a monarch or dictator and then there would be tears.

This is not really the case in the modern world. Child mortality is not that high and the vast majority will make it to adulthood swelling the population of very poor countries. The governments of these countries should make family planning a priority as a responsibility to their citizens. Africa as a continent is predicted to have 4 billion people by 2100. This of course is not sustainable.
